Amnio Anxiety

Hi guys,
I posted a little while ago as my bubba tested high risk for Trisomy 18. My husband and I paid a small fortune ($1250) to have a blood test called Verifi, rather than opting for an amnio, as the blood test posed no risk to our baby.
So I had the test done on May 13th and were told the results would be 10ish days.,
After a gut-wrenching 9 days, I received a phone call. My heart was pounding out of control, especially when the first word out of the guy's mouth was "Unfortunately,"..........
however we got no results. Instead we were told that after paying all that money to have my blood sent to a lab in America, the ****heads had waited too long to test my blood, and could I please go back into the clinic the following Monday and have the test re-done, then start the waiting process all over again! Yeh right! We demanded a refund and booked in an amnio the next day, having lost all faith in this blood test.
I am scared I have made the wrong decision, as I know amnios are risky. Can anyone out there put my mind at ease? Also, I have been told I can go straight back to work the same day I have it done (I work a desk job). I'm interested to hear other people's amnio experiences with symptoms afterwards. The doctor even joked that the worst than can happen if I go back to work straight after if my waters might break.......sorry what???

my sister had an amnio done on her lunch break a few years ago, yup she went right back to work. Baby was fine, she was fine, and they got the positive on the sex.0
