Training question

Hello all!

My running partner and I run together Tuesday and Thursday nights with our run club - it's how we met actually.

She and I are signed up to do a 10 mile race on 1 Feb and a half marathon on 22 Feb. She's signed up for a marathon on 17 May. She ran 2 halfs in 2014 and I'm finally making progress through my injury (working with a physical therapist, my running isn't keeping it from getting better or worse).

She's going to be using Hal's Novice 1 Marathon plan and I'm using Hal's Intermediate Half plan. She picked Novice 1 since the 2 races fit into the training perfectly.

I compared her plan and my plan to figure out how much longer we can train together - once the half is over, I'm planning on just running with her anyway since I've got a laundry list of races coming up.

So back to comparing the plan, the Thursdays line up perfect, both of us are only supposed to run 3mi.
But Tuesdays are different in our plans. I'm supposed to run between 4-5mi each Tuesday by the time the half hits and she's supposed to run 3mi every Tuesday til 2 weeks post-half. There's a differential of 1-2mi each run between our plans.
Would it hurt her to run that extra 1-2mi? Would it hurt me to only run the 3mi?
I'm fairly certain she'd willingly run the extra miles. But I don't want it to affect either of our performances.

Please advise
Thank you =]

It should not hurt her to run the extra miles, but I would not skip them if I were you. If she doesn't want to do them, why not run the 3 with her then add the extras on your own time, either right before or after your group run or even split your runs for the day.

It's not going to hurt. But if it does, you know what to do. Run your race, train to your plan, rest for your body.
