Fitbit/Aria App Question

So, while having some issues with Fitbit today, I went into my apps to disconnect my Fitbit app from MFP and I noticed that I have the Aria app connected as well. I never connected this APP myself. So I disconnected the Fitbit app and the Aria app disappeared as well. When I add back the Fitbit app, it automatically adds back the Aria app. what is up with that??

I did actually receive the Aria scale for Christmas, but I haven't even taken it out of the box yet, so this definitely isn't anything I've done.
I was just curious and concerned, because what if you have the Aria scale but for some reason didn't want it synched with your MFP account?? So you're telling me you can't sync your fitbit without also synching your scale?? If so, that's extremely dumb.

I don't know how much I'm going to like using the scale, but even if I didn't want to use it with fitbit, I'd still be weighing myself on it - I don't want to be forced to have it synched with MFP just because I have a fitbit. Give me the option to connect the Aria app if I wish, separately from the Fitbit Tracker.

  • The question must be if the Aria APP and the Fitbit Tracker APP always come together of you can install either or. I would like to have my Aria scale data and my Garmin Vivosmart data in MFP. But Fitbit tracker overrides and I can't deinstall it without loosing the Aria as well .....

Both your Fitbit Aria wifi scale and your Fitbit activity tracker are synced to one Fitbit account. So syncing either of them to MFP automatically syncs them both.

When I got my Aria, I changed my MFP preferences to stop posting my weight in my newsfeed: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/news_feed_settings

This question has nothing to do with MFP. You're better off asking on the Fitbit &/or Garmin forums.

On the contrary. MFP seems to be the only way to sync the WAY BETTER Aria scale with Garmin. I just can't get it to work though.

They should use two different apps with MFP though. Like I said, just because you may have the scale, doesn't mean you necessarily want it synching to MFP just because you have a Fitbit.

The apps which sync with Fitbit are listed at https://www.fitbit.com/apps

I don't see Garmin, but FitDataSync says "Automatically import your Garmin Connect activities to your Fitbit account."
  • I found a way with Withings. Connect Withings app and the Garmin app with MFP and when stepping on the scale the data is transferred to Withings and within seconds to MFP and then one has to manually press "sync now" in Garmin Connect calorie count and then one has (sadly only the last) data point in Garmin Connect. Not very comfy though. :/

I posted this as an APP improvement post and someone has now overtaken it with a question that has nothing to do with my original post. Thanks a lot.

MFP will never see your suggestion that they separate the Aria & Fitbit tracker syncs. They don't monitor the private groups, so you'd need to contact them directly.

And as I explained above, it's impossible—your scale and your tracker are associated with a single Fitbit account.

I even gave you a workaround—change your newsfeed to stop posting your weigh-ins: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/news_feed_settings

I got my answer elsewhere. My newsfeed has nothing to do with my reason for asking about this. I'm already not posting my weight there.
