West Yorkshire here. Congrats on going Vegan! I've been vegetarian for 6 years but would like to turn vegan; I recently started replacing foods one by one but I'm finding certain things tough to give up.

How did you do it? What made you go vegan?

Ah I'm from West Yorkshire originally :) I did a month of transitioning over October, basically going cold turkey with meat, I didn't really miss that though, my struggle was with cheese! So I bought some vegan cheese from holland and barret and used that for a couple of months, but I don't really crave it any more!
I decided to go vegan after watching a lot of youtube videos and online research on the subject. I've always wanted to eat more healthily but I always hated restricting calories and never felt happy on regular 'diets' so I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did because I have more energy and feel better than I ever have done :)
I'm a big animal lover too so the ethical side of it has been great for me.

Good going... I found it much easier to give up meat than I am giving up eggs and dairy. It's purely ethical for me since I'm generally on top of my nutrition; I haven't noticed any difference in health. Maybe I need to go watch a few of those videos and motivate myself a bit more. Well done you anyway.

Thanks! I used to feel so tired and unmotivated all the time but I actually enjoy exercising now which is great.

Hi, I eat a vegan diet, am from East Anglia, no meat or dairy products for over 3 years now, love the (mostly!) healthy meals and the ethical side is obviously a big bonus too. Before I went veggie about 12 years ago was vaguely aware/disturbed by the cruelty involved in animal farming but kept my head in the sand because I thought it'd be too hard to do this, wish I'd done it years ago now ... any veggies or vegans feel free to add me.

Hello, I'm from Rochester in Kent & have been vegan for 5 years. I signed up to the Vegan pledge in 2010 as a healthy start to the new year, thinking after the month was over i'd be craving dairy, eggs and convenience foods but it was the complete opposite and i haven't looked back since.
I love the challenge of creating interesting foods and tasty treats without the usual ingredients. I can highly recommend vegansauraus, finding vegan and ppk for inspirational recipes & Isa Chandra Moskowitz's recipe books are a god send!
I use myfitnesspal on & off whenever i want to inspiration trim down a litte or check that i'm getting enough of the right nutrients. Currently trying to loose a stone after Chirstmas overindulgence and motivate myself be a bit more active.
Congrats on going vegan! My tip is to keep your food interesting. If you need any help or fancy a chat, give me a shout =)

I turned vegan in August, I thought that I would have trouble giving up cheese but after the first few weeks I released that I didn't actually miss it
