Inspired by the feature on the Sufferfest website I thought it might be interesting to see where us poor souls not blessed with temperate climates are spending our "hard hours" in preparation for the season to come...

Suppose I'd Better Start...

Tacx Bushido trainer, coupled to the Tacx TTS 3.0 training software, and shown at the start of the VR DVD - T1956.55 The Dordogne France

here's a video to give you a flavour of the "virtual" scenery...

I'll try and get a pic this weekend, but my bike is setup in an unfinished section of the basement - half of the room is used as a theater room, the other half has a pool table and my home gym. My bike is pretty much right in the middle.

I put a lot of miles over the past few months here and I'm getting pretty tired of this scene! But it has been a nice option to have this winter.

Mine is my Man Cave/Recording Studio/Electronics Shop/Bike Repair room. I'm set up on a Kurt Kinetic Road Machine. The laptop PC in the pic has since been replaced with a hotter desktop machine to run TrainerRoad and Zwift. The PC uses the 47" TV on the wall as a monitor and has a small wireless keyboard and mouse pad that sits on the stand in front of the bike now. Being, among other things, a home recording studio, this room has a 22 channel Mackie mixing console feeding a 2,000 watt PA system, so the TV and whatever is on it, usually Zwift or TrainerRoad and a Sufferfest video if I'm working out, has its audio piped through the PA system unless I'm pumping music through it instead. This room also has it's own A/C unit so I can crank the temperature up or down as needed to stay comfy whilst I punish myself on the trainer. Even though I live in a fairly decent climate for year-round cycling I still spend a fair amount of time here on the trainer, especially if an interval session is on the docket for the day.

Ding, Ding, Ding, We have a Winner!!

(Hope there's a beerkeg-fridge just behind the camera out of shot, and a Woodfired Pizza Oven built just outside... that'd pretty much complete the set!)

The beer fridge is right behind where I was standing to take the picture. No pizza oven (yet!) but the dual-sided gas and charcoal grill is on the deck to my left about 20 steps.

Thanks for the compliments. I love my Man Cave. It's one of the reasons we bought the house.
