i would love for someone or bunches of someone's to help me with accountability and motivation. I am just starting and I am not thinking this is going to be easy, as I have a million excuses in my head already. However I did take a 35 minute walk in 25 degrees this morning
Thanks to anyone willing to help!

Well, that is a FABULOUS first step! Feel free to add me and we can just motivate the heck out of each other.0

I have frequent arguments with myself (in my head - not out loud!) to get my butt out there and to make the right food choices. "Stop making excuses" is something I often have to say, 'cause I've got a million of them, too.
Feel free to add me - I'm happy to help motivate, and could use some myself at times.0 -
well, you're in the right place congrats on taking the first steps.
@IndigoSue13 - i have those same arguments, usually about working out or convincing myself to pick up the next set of weights >.<0 -
That's me all the time. I usually just think about how mad I will be later if I don't do it and how good I will feel if I do0

Do you have a goal for exercise this week? I'm taking a shot at incremental goal setting to be more accountable where I'm motivated in theory...but not so much in practice.
I need to make a habit of PT and stretching (damaged knees) if I want to keep doing things I love. Here's my plan.
I'm starting tomorrow with a manageable goal for my week: 3 sessions of two full sets of exercises and stretches this week. That's specific, measurable, and achievable I think.
I'll mark off my "done" sessions on the calendar I just put up. As a reward, I'll count the "x"s as an hour of time (some people put a dollar in a jar) that I can "collect" and then allow myself to "spend" them to do something on my wish list I might not do otherwise.
Getting in my steps is easier. The weather here is a bit warmer and I have two dogs who are enthusiastic about encouraging walking
Best luck this week!0 -
Hi, I think you have laudable goals, and that walk is an awesome sign of your potential.
My biggest bit of advice is to log everything - all food and exercise - honestly and completely. I find that if I see it all written down, it's a lot easier to control and plan my calorie intake and exercise.
As far as exercise goes, at first I found that very brisk walking was my biggest aid. There is so much to see outside, and it is surprisingly easy to do, and doesn't bother my joints. I sometimes use an iPod to provide musical accompaniment, and once I found I liked walking I bought a good pair of hiking boots with good support. I've graduated to snowshoeing and cross country skiing in winter (and the elliptical trainer when the temp is frigid like -20C) but I still love a long brisk walk.
Sure hope this helps. I know everyone's journey is unique but this is what is working for me.
Cheers, Dave0 -
