Hi all, I'm new here. I received a recumbent bike for Christmas. Because you don't move your arms when using the bike, I tried putting the Jawbone on my ankle and it worked awesomely! Everyday I'm finding something new to love about my Jawbone!

That's a great idea! Hate it when I cycle and it barely logs anything.

I also do this when I am shopping. Pushing a cart stops the natural swing of the arm that logs steps. I put my Up on my ankle- or even just tuck it into my boot and it logs the steps more accurately.
  • Have you ever tried on your ankle for all day? I have little kids who I frequently carry:)

I'm wearing it more on my ankle than my wrist because I forget it's there after I cycle. However, it fell off once so I'm pretty careful to put it on my wrist to go outside. You can also put it in your pants pocket and it will log accurately.

I put it on my ankle as well when I work because I need my arms free (massage therapist)

No. The algorithm is designed to track steps & calculate burns when worn on your non-dominant wrist. When used correctly, your UP total burn is your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure).

Non-step exercise (including biking & swimming) needs to be logged. Either in the UP app (that's what I do) or in MFP—never both. Food & drink (including water) only sync one way (from MFP to UP), but exercise logged in MFP overrides your UP data during that time.
