How do I use my charge hr?

Ok. I have been using mfp, and logging my cardio manually based on the caloric burn the eliptical reported.
Today, I got a charge hr, as I am about to start c25k, and want a hrm to track that outdoors.
How do I log now? Do I still enter the exercise manually? Do I just let the fitbit adjustment do its thing?

I believe that you should hold the button to tell the Charge you're working out (also do it when you're done). And that way it will not double count steps.
Can someone else verify if that is correct?
I log my workouts in MFP, but I don't eat back any calories (b/c I follow TDEE). I hope this helped some.

It may also depend on if you have negative adjustments on or off.

There is no double counting of steps if you don't create an activity.
That merely sets that block of time to the side for later review for steps, distance, calories.
It's still included in the daily burn. And that's why you create the activity perhaps, so it is reviewable, rather than just within the daily data.
But you don't have to do it.
It is useful though for non-HR devices, because that logs the start and end time, so you can manually log a better estimate, and have that info now.
And use your device to track that elliptical too, since it has HRM it is likely giving better estimate.
Unlike treadmills and bikes in gym, there are no formulas from studies for ellipticals - because there are too many variables. So the machine is using something proprietary, likely based on watts which isn't half bad - but then assuming a level of efficiency to translate that to calories.
Your Charge using HR will be better estimate.
If you want the workouts to show on MFP, just make a wall post about it with more details.
