The Fitbit and MyFitnessPal work together and make your daily calorie goals more accurate. I have a Flex and am upgrading to the ChargeHR today or tomorrow. I just got it and it's charging now! :) The Fitbit calculates what you are actually burning rather than a guesstimate.

In MFP you choose an activity level. This is a guess of how active you think you are. Plus you would LOG all your other exercises like going for a walk, Running, biking etc.. This is how MFP sets your calorie goals.

The Fitbit sets your calorie goals based on how active you REALLY are and adjusts your calories in MFP based on your movement if you sync the two accounts. MFP is awesome for keeping track of your calorie intake and the Fitbit makes your calorie burn more accurate so you can eat what you should and still lose/maintain/gain whatever your goal.
