Looking for some advice. I've been running for two or so years with a bunch of five k an 10 k races and two half marathons under my belt. The past week or so I've had pain on the inside of my right knee. When I push on the particular spot it hurts more. It isn't noticeably bruised or swollen. It does not hurt more when I run. I mostly notice when I'm not exercising. I took a month or so off from running recently and have been back at it for a month or so now. Im very aware of injury prevention so wondering if this is the start of something that can be dealt with or if it sounds more major and I need to see a doctor. I'm hoping not to lose too much training time as well. Any runners know what this could b or suggestions for me? Thank you.

Go to an orthopaedic doctor or a physical therapist.
Don't mess with knees or ask strangers for medical advice on the internet.

It's a pretty general injury description, so it's hard to say. How are your shoes? Do you track your miles on them or have you switched to a new shoe lately? Worn shoes or shoes that are not right for you can cause these types of things. I would suggest icing it and also getting a foam roller. Sometimes injuries can pop up from compensating for weaknesses is other parts of the body. Foam rolling your muscles and tendons hurts, but it definitely helps keep them loose. When I have an injury I am not sure about, I look for a local running store that has a free PT clinic and consult with them. There is one somewhere in town almost every weekend.

In term of shoes, I've worn the same model for the past 5 pairs and I've never had issues. I do track my mileage in these shoes and they should be good for another few months. I also foam roll on a regular basis and find it really helps me. I should also mention I live in a rural/northern community so the nearest orthopaidic doc or PT is about a 6 hour drive so I try not to do that too often. Thanks for the advice I will try to ice it and rest a few days and see if that helps at all.

Go to a doc or 2 or 3 until someone can help you out!
