Side Effects...
I'm on day 7 of switching to a LCHF diet. But majorly upping my fats (over 60% of my daily calories are from fat), I've managed to stave off most of the symptoms of the carb flu. Thankfully. Because I've been there and done that before and it is just flat out miserable.
However, since my body is in the process of converting its engine from a carb burning engine to a fat burning engine, the process ends up forcefully dumping a lot of water, sodium, magnesium, and potassium. So, even at nearly 130 ounces of water a day, but the end of the evening I start feeling dehydrated (if it doesn't kick in earlier in the day). Last night has been the worst so far. So much so I'm still dehydrated today and playing catch up. Not fun. But I'm doing well aside from that... But, if I hadn't educated myself before following my doctor's instructions, I would be in misery right now with the worst symptoms I can fathom.
So what do you all think? Are side effects worth it? Do the wrenching annoyances and discomforts mean that we really are (FINALLY???) changing ourselves for the better? Does preparation - knowledge or food/supplement or frankly anything - alleviate the symptoms or make them more manageable? Would you jump into something that could totally change your universe, knowing that it could be a horrific change process, knowing that cravings will drive you mad (not so far!), knowing that one misstep could put you back weeks, would you do it anyway? These are all the deep wacky thought circles I'm in at the moment...
Just curious what others think...
