Good morning everyone!
Saturday was a very pleasant day with nice surprises and accomplished goals!
Sunday is a rest day for me and I usually enjoy reflecting on the week that passed, evaluating progress and formulating plans.
I was reminded this week of a cute little experiment: " the marshmallow experiment"; It was conducted some years ago by offering children one marshmallow. The children were then left alone in a room and they were told that, if they choose to not eat the marshmallow, within 5/10 minutes, the interviewer would return and give them another marshmallow. Many children didn't resist the temptation... Years after the experiment, they looked into the lives of the same children: those who resisted the temptation, were significantly more successful than the rest.
As humans we have 2 main reward systems: one for immediate satisfaction ( eat the marshmallow now) and one for delayed gratification ( wait a little and you get 2 marshmallows). I find this experiment very pertinent in our shared journey.
Little positive changes, a sustainable deficit, good nutrition and sleep: don't expect changes overnight, expect miracles in the long run!
Have a fabulous Sunday everyone!!!

Did ok with my Saturday goals. Got a short workout in and that didn't give me enough calories so I was over my MFP goal but under my 1800 goal. Got everything else done though!
Not sure if I will workout today or not. I'm pretty sore so that sounds like rest but I've got a big week ahead with parties and lots of eating/drinking plus surgery the following week and that says workout! I do have to pay bills and maybe some shopping so I will play it by ear. I will log everything though!0 -
Yesterday worked out even though I didn't make the best choices.
Today I starred with a good healthy breakfast, and am planning on a workout before church.
Goals:
1. Two a day workout today.
2. Plan meals for the rest of the week.
3. Buy and make oatmeal for the week.
4. Make good food choices for the day.
5. Finish homework.0 -
Pretty happy with my Saturday “performance.”
Attended a Church Dinner Dance last night and was able to remain within target for daily calories. Skipped the rolls, no dessert and gave my white rice to someone else. I only ate the breaded baked chicken (3-4 oz.) and a chopped broccoli concoction (I was told how it was made and it only contained lemon juice etc. – no cream, cheese etc.). Got home & had a bit of popcorn & Fiber Bar.
Put in some extra walking time in the morning and 15-minutes of strength exercise video.
Have a great Sunday!0 -

Loved the experiment you relayed - and your very "on-target" summation! Great reminder. You have a great Sunday too!

Yesterday was a good day, exceeded my step goal, was over on calories but knew I would be because it was my once a week DQ treat. I allow one day a week where I have fast food. So my go to is a small plain burger, sm fries and a small strawberry sundae. I plan for it and enjoy it guilt free. Today I have completed my weight training, run a mile on the treadmill in 9:32, a personal record for me. And it's a gorgeous sunny warm day (January thaw) so the dog and I are going for a walk in the sunshine. Then rest to get ready for a busy week at the office. T4 time is a busy time of year for me. Have a happy great Sunday, take a moment to give thanks of how lucky we are to have such great support in our roads to individual fitness and health.0
