Is it even possible to train my way to a 5K PR or even come close to my previous times if I currently weigh 13 pounds more than I did when I acheieved those goals last year?

I will continue running anyway, adding in more slow miles and building my way back up, but I am extremely competetive with myself. Do I just need to go into any 5K races I do in the near future with the knowledge that I will not be breaking any of my records or even coming close until I get this weight back off?
