So Frustrated

I don't know about anyone else but my weight fluctuates drastically! I can easily go up or down 5 to 10 pounds in a day and I don't know if this has anything to do with having PCOS/IR/Hypothyroidism or just being a woman. I'm still trying to find out what works well for me as far as what helps me lose weight. I know that getting my weight down will help to reduce my symptoms. Now that I'm taking Metformin, Yaz, and Synthroid I'm not hungry anymore. I almost have to force myself to eat some days.
What has worked for you guys? I've done gluten, dairy, corn syrup, fructose free diets in combination which helped for a little then I found the weight I'd lost.

It has to do with being human. Your body will fluctuate 5-10lb on a daily basis from water weight, food, poo, etc.

It's frustrating, but don't look at the day-to-day weigh-ins. Look at the overall trends. If that trend isn't going the direction you want, then you'll want to change what you're doing.

You might want to check out http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ since you have thyroid issues.

I don't remember looking at that thyroid site before, but I can tell that if you still have some or all of your symptoms with hypothyroidism even if you blood work numbers have improved, a supplement your doctor might want to add is call Iodoral. It is OTC, but usually held behind the counter in many pharmacies (I found mine in a compounding pharmacy, but Walgreens, CVS, Walmart etc. didn't carry it or know of it)... It needs to be closely monitored while taking it. It is a Iodine/Iodide supplement because many people can metabolize one type far better than the other. I started taking half a pill a day, then upped to a pill a day after I was sure I wasn't having an allergic reaction to it (some do). I'm back down to half a pill a day due to financial reasons, but it is still the thing that helps me get out of bed in the morning! Good luck.

As for weighing, pick one time of day, usually first thing in the morning, after using the bathroom, and weigh in in your birthday suit. Do this consistently for a more accurate comparison. I can personally say that whether my #2 has been productive plays a large part in fluctuations for me, whether I've gotten enough water, etc.

I find that LCHF is working well for me so far (in week 3), and I'm losing decently, but as an example for you weigh in info, I'm up 2 pounds today since yesterday, even with weigh in consistency. So it goes all over the place, but that's part of the process. Maybe I burned off and emptied some fat cells, and my body got nervous and filled them with water until it verifies they really aren't needed any more (Real thing, btw, that happens sometimes) and can relax and let that extra water go. I also struggled with getting all my water in this weekend (mostly stress I think), and so I think I'm retaining a bit because my body is worried it won't get enough again... The body is such a complicated thing. Weigh loss is not simple, exactly.

Think of a complicated algebraic equation with a huge number of factors/unknown variables. There may be 20 equations to help you figure out the value of each variable, but it will still take you some time to do it. And with most of them, there might be multiple values in different combinations than can work to answer problems. So, even though we follow certain rules, the body doesn't always follow what we expect. Keep moving overall in the right direction, and eventually everything will catch up with you - even with PCOS...

    Hugs.
