Happy Wednesday Folks! Hope all is well with all of you. Thanks again folks for the encouragement. The saga continues...

Tom - Congrats o the 2lbs. Yepper good advice from Heron, simple unweighted motion can be beneficial as well for your elbows, wrist, shoulders. Frequent iterations to just the edge of discomfort but not to pain. I generally don't work with clients that are still in PT so do what they tell you first then look for avenues of recreational use and recovery once PT is done.

Keep at it Jen but take the care you need as well. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Heron - Rest well heal well. Knees are hard to get right once the damage is done so patience is your biggest asset. Bless you for donating your hair. You are a special gal.

Chris - I did the 5-3-1 when I started lifting again last Jun I enjoyed it and it brought me a long way, now working my modified 5X5 and enjoying that as well. With the addition of my Squat Rack to my Home Gym I am planning on doing it unmodified for the next 6 weeks. Your starting points look pretty good given what I know of you here and not being able to observe.

All righty then Folks have a great day. Time to Jam!

Pulled a muscle under the edge of my ribs. Doesn't hurt unless I try to do squats. .. Guess I should hold off on those for a bit.....

Did 100lb squat, 45lb ohp, 155lb deadlift. Squat still feels really light. Deadlift felt nice...I really missed those. Overhead is my weakest movement so hoping to get that up. Last 1RM I did for that was only 135lbs.

John I would be interested in seeing some pictures of your home gym sometime! I've got mine pretty rounded out. I need to mount a pullup bar somewhere in my shop. Right now I only have the door one. Tractor Supply is having a sale tomorrow on stall mats so I will be grabbing a few more of those. I want to eventually cover the floor, but I don't want to spend too much at once. I'm thinking I'll probably do 5x5 until it warms up. Then I'll get back into some Olympic lifting programs.

Hi all! I talked to my PT and she said I am doing awesome and started me on some active resistance with my arm. She also encouraged me to take the advice I received here and start going slow. Thanks Hmrjmr1, Heronh, Beerbikegirl and carolssalva for the encouragement and advice!
  • Thanks everybody. I think I'm back to normal today (well, as normal as I can be - hehehe).

Tom, that's great news from your PT.

Kevin, ouch!! Definitely want to be careful and let that muscle heal.

Finally, this week is coming to an end. It's just been one of those weeks I would like to forget. Just need to make it through the day today and off to my weekend. Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow (FB challenge weigh in). I did good last night by not giving in to a pizza craving (and I really wanted to). I knew I messed up enough this week, so didn't want to continue the trend. I made a salad instead.

Happy Thursday Folks! Tough nite for sleep, HRV was a Red Flag again this morning

Good O Jen knocking down those cravings can take a pretty mediocre day and make it a good one. Jam On Lass!

Good O Tom. Motion is the Lotion work it slow and safe.

Chris - You should start feeling the 'tension' towards the end of next week. Things get real heavy in a hurry at week 4. Will get some better pics and post em this weekend.

Hope all the Colds are getting better for those affected. Work Hard, Have Fun but above all B B) !

Happiness is grabbing a pair of pants you've never worn, putting them on, and they fit! Yes there's a theme here, I sometimes buy things on clearance that are great deals, somewhat classic, but are too tight with intention of wearing some day. Until recently tho I wasn't getting anywhere on being able to wear them. Sure I went from a tight size 14 to (now a loose-ish) size 12 over that year, but never to these clothes - which are smaller size 12's.

Which means I probably need to deal with the guest room closet. I'm currently in a size 12 - which for me as an adult over 30 has been my lowest size. Over Christmas I donated all the size 14 & 16 things, which didn't bother me at all. But then there's the guest room closest. Completely full of suits and business wear in size 16W -20W (for those who don't realize there's a size 16 in normal "ladies" departments and then a bigger size 16W in plus size or "womens" departments/stores. It was a big deal mentally when I was able to start back shopping in normal departments/stores vs. plus. I swore I would never shop in those again.

And I think how I mentally ensure that is by holding on to all those clothes. I just can't seem to get rid of them - I have a whole closest to fall back on versus shopping. None of which I have worn for 3 years. I think I'm finally at the point to release. I know what I am doing now is my lifestyle. It is not a "diet", it is not a plan to lose weight. It is me, the way I live. The way that makes me look, feel and perform this best. And as long as I live this way, I will never need those clothes.

Now to get them all out and donated.....

Cynthia if you are subject to random urinalysis in your employment; you may want to reconsider, Most employment screening and random testing does not test for quantity, just presence of certain particulates that can remain in your system for several weeks after ingestion. Could be a big problem if you are a federal employee.

All that being said would be interested in your opinion of how it goes if you use it. Seems a lot of therapeutic potential there.

I was wondering about that, John. Fortunately, I am never subjected to drug testing, but that could be a huge issue for some people! I'll let you know how it goes.

Today is a great day. The sun is shining, the light snow we had last night is almost melted. It hit 40 degrees yesterday so I walked and walked! Just finished a legs workout that felt wonderful. Feeling blessed to be alive and so healthy.

Last night I got sucked into watching "my 600 pound life" about a young woman Amber who weighed 647 when it started (just under 400 when it ended, following bariatric surgery). She was so sad and so insightful, but her story was inspiring. Little things like being able to drive a car (couldn't fit behind the wheel before) or flying on a plane (two seats, and still difficult to get into them). Gosh, I hope she is still doing well. It makes my stupid extra 15 pounds seem like nothing at all.

OMG, that's AWESOME Kim!!! SO happy for you to be dropping down a size. I'm almost there myself, I think (16 down to 14). Unfortunately, I don't have much in size 14 but a ton in 12, so guess I getting get moving!!! :) Seriously though, I'm so happy for you. You are totally rockin'!!!!!

Jen it sounds like you are ending the week on a good note! Past is done keep moving forward!

Beerbikegirl way to go! I am looking forward to cleaning out my wardrobe myself!

I walked purposely for the first time since November. I only walked a mile, I was up to 5 miles a day last pre-surgery I will get it back. Doing PT twice a day like I am supposed to. Looking forward to a good weigh in next Tuesday!
  • Good morning everybody. Friday, Friday, Friday! That means another week completed in the FB challenge. Weigh in time in a few minutes. Not feeling great about it but that's ok. Can't go back and redo the week, so I'll just keep going forward.

Had a great time last night chatting with Carol. An hour just goes way too fast. Thank you again for visiting my little part of the YouTube world. Looking forward to chatting with my fellow Jaunters tomorrow.

Tom, getting back into regular walking is probably the single biggest step you can take for your health (well besides sleeping 7-9 hours a night, which is really the #1 thing). Our bodies are meant to move, to walk. Make daily walking, even if in a bunch of little short breaks of walking throughout your day, your biggest priority. That and your PT.

Meanwhile back in Kim's the scale slowly creeping down at glacial pace world.,. Only down 0.4 for week. Which is fine. Much better this week at keeping calories and macros in range AJ recommended for me. But zero activity. Low step counts, no strength training. I feel like I'm finally coming out of fighting this bug. So will get back on track this weekend. Next week is a vacation (well my vacation days, hubby work trip...but it's a good one. Vail. So will be an active week. Can't wait!)

Cynthia - great thoughts about being blessed with the health you have ( and have worked hard to achieve, I'd add...maybe not the struggle like the 600# women, but with equal dedication)

John- how's the squat rack? Would you recommend?

Kim, IMHO get rid of the clothes! They belong to another woman, not to you. Every time I keep them, I grow back into them.

It is 7 degrees outside this morning. Yikes! Just walked my dog Henry around the block, but no further than that. I didn't want his little paws to freeze. Time to pull out the Ugg (Ugh!) boots to keep my toes toasty on the way to work.

Las Vegas in October sounds amazing right now!

Funtastic Friday Folks! Just finished watching Jen's Chat with Carol, Great Show. Officially off today but heading up to the hospital to do the Karaoke Cafe, and pick up JT Dogg for the Weekend.

    Tom - Good O lad.

Not a lot going on here but now 21 days TF. Had I known the mental difficulty of this I would probably have delayed it til the summer. I find it still very challenging both physically and mentally at many times of the day. Sometimes I have to just focus on the next 10 mins to continue. I have actually developed an awareness of different parts of my brain, Like the hippocampus/hypothalumus (? SP), I can actually feel it throwing a fit over not getting what it wants. I am hyper aware of its position in my skull, and at times I can feel my body signalling it; its almost like a mini seizure, like getting head slapped from the inside. It is fighting back hard this last week some of my PTS dreams have returned. and others that have never gone away have become more intense. Sleep is not restful or fun.
It's probably a good thing I live alone at the moment, I can generally keep my attitude together long enough to get through my work day, but its walking on the edge of my sword after that.
Appreciate every ones support here. I will get through this, I will be in control of what goes in my body. Better days are ahead,

    Don't forget Operation RED TOP.

    Happy Friday everybody!

Weight is still holding steady. Yes, I wish it would move down, but steady is not bad either. Hopefully the ice will clear off the road/trails this week and even if muddy I can get walking. I try and not do that mountain hike too much even though I do love it.

I have been experimenting a bit though. If I watch my calories and track what I eat by that, I seem to gain weight. If I just follow my Paleo eating, eat what I want without tracking, I seem to lose weight. So, I think I am going back to not tracking calories...the mind is a wonderfully frustrating thing at times.

John, I think its fantastic that you are in tune with your brain chemistry. Keep it up!!
Oh and why does the knee takes the longest to heal?

Kim, that's great that you are getting rid of the clothes, I don't know if you have already donated the clothes but if you can try to donate it to organizations that help women to get back into the workforce. A lot of those women came from hard background and we all know office attire ain't cheap!
Congrats on your loss. No matter how small its still going down. I'm still waiting on mine lol
Jen, Carol is fun to chat with!! Time just flies when you are chatting with her ;)

I did not reign in on my carbs and calories on carb nite. :s So.. fingers crossed.

Kim: I love Heron's idea about finding an organization that helps women for your clothes. What confidence they will provide! Bravo on all your efforts to find a new way of life. Yes, you are here!!

John: What a description of your battle. Cynthia is right...you are winning!!! I know you'll keep on moving toward victory. Keep your rucksack strapped on tight and your eyes on the path ahead. Keep on Jammin!!

Good morning! Great boot camp this morning, and a nice walk to work with the temp above freezing. My challenge today is that I am guest speaker at a formal whiskey tasting tonight (I'm speaking on the Whiskey Rebellion - someone else is managing the tasting). I plan to enjoy it and learn something. Not sure what the menu will be other than the whiskey. Not sure it matters. ;)

    Tom - Great Win!

Heron - It's the joint that takes the most weight/pressure and has to stabilize it through out a wider range of motion that any other load bearing joint. Very complex system full of parts that take longer to heal anyway (connective tissue). Be patient.

This week has not been good from a diet standpoint. ate a decent amount of stuff I have been avoiding but some of it was special occasions and such. No weight gain from it that I can tell. This week I am back at it diet wise.

Completely forgot the hangout... got asked to go shooting with a new guy from church who hadn't shot in ages and was looking to buy a pistol. Sorry the time just got away from me.
