Different pain in abdomen is this normal

Hi, I had my surgery on 1/19 and pain wise I've felt great, just sore but not unbearable. I haven't even needed pain meds. I've been taking it easy and even have my mom here for the month helping with my 4 kids. However, I've had a new pain start that I haven't felt before today and I'm wondering if this is normal. It's above my belly button and to the left. It almost feels like a strained or pulled muscle. It hurts if I bend over or get up and it occasionally feels like a stabbing pain but more often feels like a dull ache. I was attempting some cleaning today and I used my left leg to kick backwards at my large ottoman to move it out of the way. About an hour after I did that was when I noticed it started. So I'm wondering if I might have strained a muscle or if this is a normal feeling. Also I had my upper GI yesterday and all looked perfectly normal and dr said I'm healing nicely. Also, I'm feeling good other than this and I'm eating fine and everything is sitting well.

Yep did that one too! Tried to do too much one day and felt that tug. Stopped what I was doing and relaxed. The pain went away. But I am more careful about lifting or doing too much. Gotta give time for the tummy to heal !

This sounds like the one incision that was most painful for me as well; the one where they pull out the organ. My surgeon explained that that was the one where the cut the muscle sheath and then put in a stitch after the removal. If it continues to hurt, make sure to check with them to make sure you didn't do any damage with your Ottoman Donkey Kick (sounds like a great WWE move!).

  • Thank you both for your response. I think you're both right. I was worried I popped a staple but I felt fine other than the throbbing and I could eat fine too. So I figured it had to be something else. I feel better after reading your experiences. I'll call my dr if it doesn't get better soon.

Oh and sorry about the double post of this thread. My phone's internet connection stopped as I tried to post so I went back and posted again and then it double posted. I couldn't figure out how delete one of them. Oops.
