Under Armour And The My Fitness Pal Merger

On the Fitness/Exercise board and the feedback board there have been discussions about Under Armour having acquired MFP which means a merger and the largest health and fitness company online, if I recall correctly. MFP says it means many improvements here, like improved fitness and nutrition databases. There's been a lot of speculation as to whether MFP will remain free or add a Premium level. A lot of people seem to want a paid site with extra bells and whistles. My opinion is that since I only get $35 a month from Medocaid I could only stay at MFP if it remains free. How many of you would stay if MFP became paid? What would be the factors in your decision? I LOVE MFP...this is family and I would HATE to leave, but... What do you think?? Thanks for your thoughts.

If it's a small fee, like maybe $5 a month, I might stay but more than that, no. I too would really miss my MFP family.
They could just leave it as is and add a premium thing for those who want to pay for the bells and whistles maybe.

I agree I wouldn't/couldn't pay to continue, I would be very upset this is the first timeiI have join and have bonded with others. But we have to remberer its a business.

ln all honesty, that would be a bad business model for them. MFP has built an advertising base here that many companies are paying a premium price for and I doubt Armour wants to disrupt that. I suspect they will add an upgraded service, as they do on their products like Endomondo, where ads disappear, you can customize your page etc etc etc. One thing that should make everyone here feel better is that on Endomondo, the community is part of the free service, so in all likelihood the forums here will remain outside the premium service as well. As to paying for it, there are so many free calorie counting sites on the web that no one really has to pay for that so the forums are Armour's only lure for advertsing dollars. I am thinking, we have no worries. Time will tell!0
