Mine often differ quite a bit at the beginning of the day, but by the end of the day they're close. This is always going to be the case because of the different approaches MFP and FitBit take to coming up with that number.

Right now I have MFP set to a Sedentary activity level and FitBit set to assume that the rest of my day will be Sedentary as well. This setup works for me, although I start the day with FitBit showing a pretty low Calories Left number. It motivates me to get moving, and keep moving, so I can eat enough to not be miserable.

If you're trying to plan what you can eat, take the lower estimate but adjust it some if you expect to exercise or be active.

Also, make sure that your goals are the same, or similar on both systems. If you've got MFP set to lose 1 lb per week, but FitBit set to lose .5 lb per week, they're not going to agree on calories left.

Where do you set your Fitbit weight loss goal? Can't find anywhere which asks how much you want to lose

Yeah, it's a little hard to find. On the Dashboard, mouse over the Food Plan tile. Select the gear icon that pops up. That should let you set your weekly weight loss goal.

If you are using the app, just go to the account tab in the bottom right corner. Your goals are listed there :)

I just use MFP for calorie/food tracking and don't worry about what Fitbit's dash says.

Don't attempt to take 2 roads to the same destination - just asking for aggravation and confusion.

And that's even if a man isn't driving not asking for directions.

Ignore Fitbit's calorie goal and follow MFP's, eating back your adjustments.

Bottom line: your Fitbit burn is your TDEE (maintenance calories). If you eat at a reasonable deficit from that, you will lose weight.
