This is a question I ask myself daily. I have been big for most of my life I lost over 100 pounds doing weight watchers and I did get to my goal weight in 2009. Then i got prego with my son and then right after my son my daughter and then everything when down hill from there. I was in a crappy marriage and all we did was fight so it was easy to just pick up food and eat and not care about life. Well then I got divorced which was my choice. Meet a great man who has supported me no matter what my choices are. Well know he is gone for over a year on deployment and I am more motivated than ever to show him and prove to him that I can do this. I sent him a few pics of me and the kids since he has been gone but told him no more pics of me he wont see me til april when he gets a 4 day pass and then wont see me again until he gets home. I want him to not be able to recognize me when he sees me for the first time in months. I am more determined then ever to get this weight off but doing it the right way so that in the long run it will stay off. However, I am not just doing this for him I am doing this for me.. I want to be healthy I want to be there for my kids who are 2 and 4 soon to be 3 and 4, I want to be able to run around with them and play and not feel like I am going to die. This challenge is going to keep me going where others will see my weight and be able to help keep me on track. I have already started and can't wait to do my first week of weigh ins. Good luck to everyone. Now what is your motivation....

My motivation is to finally lose the weight and keep it off. I dodged the cancer bullet. I had ovarian cancer, but the kind I had is 96 percent survivable, however, it can come back and attack the liver and the heart. (that is the 4 percent that don't survive). The Dr. told me that if I didn't lose the weight the chances of it coming back are more likely.
I had an abdominal hysterectomy and Oophorectomy (removal of ovaries). Also, because of the cancer I am not allowed to take hormone therapy. So here I am trying my best to lose the weight. I have lost 97 so far and have 21 to go. I must exercise to lose the weight. and I mean hard exercise.

Another motivation of mine is watching my mother who has been overweight her adult life and see her taking insulin because of diabetes type 2, seeing her use her walker hold her up, instead of steadying her walk. She takes so much medicine for various ailments due to weight, I would rather control my life through diet and exercise instead of pills and complaints.

My husband is a great wonderful man, and so supportive, but dang it he is the same size since high school. He eats healthy with me, and doesn't push food on me. My kids are grown with children of their own and I love my family, I want to be healthy for my grandkids. I would love to be around when they grow up!!!

I started this battle almost two years ago when I was diagnosed prediabetic. I weighed 205#, which was new, and something I hope to never see again! I joined MFP on a suggestion by my doctor. I've lost 31#, but gained a few back when I found out I have breast cancer.

My family has been in town a few times, to take me to different procedures, and saw how much crap my ex had left in the house (after 4 years.) They came down and moved all of his crap out of my house, and helped me deep clean and declutter. Now, I'm motivated to keep it that way. So I'm trying to be more active in general, as I can't seem to focus on any great exercise plan right now! All the decluttering is also helping us to our goal of getting the house on the market so we can move closer to their school.

Because I'm conserving money, for the weeks I'll be off work, I'm bringing my meals from home. Dang if I haven't dropped three pounds! Look what all the extra fat and salt from restaurant food can do! Not to mention portion sizes...

My ultimate goals are to be in the "normal" weight category, and drop one more pants size! My kids are paying more attention to what they eat/drink and we've all got bikes that fit us now. (Dang boys sprouting up!) We can't wait for the warm weather to return so we can get back to riding together after work/school. Plus, since they are almost 16, they are talking about part time jobs. I keep suggesting they look at places they can walk or bike to from the house!
