I think I've posted some here about the changes I've made all around since the first of the year. Regardless, here's an article that does a great job explaining why this is safe, healthy, and the best thing I can do for me!
A friend just shared this article, and it is awesome. While I don't agree with every minute detail he has shared here, this pretty much explains my recent changes to my lifestyle and way of eating! Happy reading, y'all.

Interesting stuff. Especially the section about meds. Two it mentions - remeron I am still on and Zyprexa caused me to put on 6 stone in 18m and am convinced Id lose at twice the rate I do now if it werent for my drugs. But as they are a neccesary evil I will continue plodding.
Good luck with the rest. I have tried explaining to a friend who is a proponent of Juice Plus and clean eating that I think the trick for anyone is finding something thats sustainable and works FOR YOU. What she does works for her. What I do works for me, so if this works for you then bloody good luck. I know you are determined enough0 -
I agree that it is all about what works and is sustainable for each individual. If it doesn't work or is too hard no one will stick to it and it won't matter if it does cause weight loss.
I did find somethings in there that were interesting though and now that I think about it might be a part of my recent stall. I started eating apples and clementines as evening snacks...about the time the weightloss dropped off. They replaced things like the wheat thin popped and whipped sugar free pudding so I thought it was better but maybe I need to just cut out the snacks all together or switch to carrots or something. I know my vitamin d level is very low and I need to start taking a supplement for it again. I am having it checked again along with my thyroid in June. I have been not getting much sleep lately and need to get better about that. I have insomnia that comes and goes in cycles and being a night owl to begin with doesn't really help it.
Carly-
It was -18 this morning when I dropped the kids off with a windchill of -29...what is the temp in Oklahoma?0 -
@wennim It was around 20 when I left to come to work, and maybe 35 when I went for my morning walk. We haven't had many minus temps here this season. But the wind is killer. I remember walking one day it was 12 with a windchill of minus some ridiculous number. I literally paced up and down right next to the building 100 yards up and back a million times! LOL
And I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY that different things work for different people and must be sustainable. I heard something this past year that really stuck with me. "You have to lose weight the way you will maintain it, or it will never happen."
And I am IN LOVE with the way my body feels on this way of eating!
This is a message I sent in response to someone else asking if I was talking about Keto as my new way of eating (WOE).
I can tell you, I have mental clarity I haven't had in years, I have so much energy, I'm awake in the morning (not a morning person AT ALL, etc.), I feel great, my numbers are all improving as far as bloodwork, my cravings are almost completely gone and what's left is manageable, I sleep better, and my mood has improved. This way of eating has literally changed my life. Today is day 36, and I honestly can't see any difficulties in my future.
There are alternatives to anything out there in the carby world, and most of them taste better than the carbs did. I'm cooking more and enjoying it more...
Oh, and while the scale is slower to move for me, I'm shrinking. Almost two pants sizes since I started January 15th. Pants I couldn't button up before Christmas are now loose enough I can wear leggings underneath for warmth.
There are two groups I'm part of that I can send links to if you're interested. They have way more info and recipes and such.0 -
Glad its working so well for you hon0

Zyprexa also caused me to put on about 60 pounds in two months. I didn't even realize what was happening until it was too late. That was 15 years ago and I'm still trying to get that weight off.0 -
Evil *kitten* so it is. Had a blip in Jan and had to go back on a 2nd AD alongside my remeron and I told them they could step over my cold dead body before I'd go back on Zyprexa. On Ablify (I think it is in the US anyway, aripiprazole) instead. I am not gaining but am not losing either atm0
-
Yeah, that can cause high blood sugars, as I remember on all the commercials (the Abilify/aripiprazole), so it's great that your nutritionist changed your macros around. That should definitely help, but I'm sure you were warned to keep an eye out for side effects, give that you're a nurse, so I won't harp on it. I'm sincerely happier than a pig in crap that it's working for you, Lise! @maoribadger0

If this plateau carries on will have to think about where I go from here though0

You do need to give your body some time to adjust to the new calories. Also, it is not considered a plateau unless you're stuck for about 6-12 weeks. Usually the 12 weeks. Your body composition is changing. Make sure you are measuring. Your body will catch up. We're used to the NOW NOW NOW results we go from being Morbidly Obese and such to the slow down when we lose a fair bit. It will come off much slower now, particularly that you are building muscle. But you will continue to lose inches. That should be the focus for now. I'd be sure to discuss it with the trainer AND nutritionist. You have to try a new eating program for 4 weeks before you can deem it a success or failure. I know we all want results right now, but that just isn't the way the world works, unfortunately.0
