I just recently purchased the Walky Dog. Anyone use anything like that or something similar? I think it's a great idea but I'm curious about the safety issues or problems that may come with it. It's an amazing idea, just have a pole attatched that allows you to steer and break to have better control while riding your bike safer. I'll take some pictures and post them.

not exactly safe unless you know for a fact that fido doesn't go chasing after another mutt and pull you where ever he wants to go. It's not safe for you or the pup or others who may be near you. I do have a dog that I take on trails but he never cuts infront of me, and he runs freely. I am always aware of where he is and he is fantastic about watching me.0

Depending on the dog, I can see several ways one has a really good chance of hurting himself or dog. Unless you're content to ride around avg 6 to 9 kph. My opinion, this kind of defeats the point of "you" being on a bike.
But the internal elastomer / spring thing is a neat trick. . . hmm. . .
My proclivity is to walk or run with fido.0 -
I use the "springer" which is awesome. Is a spring that attaches to the bike to absorb pulling of your dog. Supposed safety feature is a "breakable" plastic piece (in case you go one way around something and your dog goes the other way).0

As long as you know your dog will not suddenly go after birds/squirrels/other, then I think it should be fine. I just hold onto my dogs leash when she HAS to be on leash, but it is not the best set up. I have a pointer so she wants to hunt everything that moves, so I need to be able to let her go in case she darts. We bike together A LOT and I have trained her to run behind me which works really well, but only on trails. I wouldn't let her go off leash on city paths.0

Well I have a 40 lbs. dog and his pull is tough but nothing that i couldn't handle on my own. He is a pit bull mix and I read that they are good sprinters but not long length runners. Currently my weight is 175 which I think is pretty good counter weight. I've noticed that when he sees ducks or cats but we are going a regular pace he will try chasing them but, like I said, It's easy to control and feels like a strong gust of wind blew you.
I live in arizona too so it's not too safe to bike during the day and it's a far bike ride to paths (and those are dangerous at night too). so i mostly ride for him to give him the exercise he needs because it's so hot outside, he cant be on the pavement without burns.0
