5,213 Flights of Stairs??

So the other day during my workout (on a treadmill..with no incline...) my Fitbit told me I climbed over 5,000 floors. I've probably never climbed that many floors over my lifetime. The only thing I can think of is that we were having a severe snow storm, causing a change in atmospheric pressure. Is that the best explanation? Even today it says I've climbed 7 floors when I've only done one. It's not that big of a deal since I'm not so concerned about floors, just pretty weird. I can't figure out how to fix this.
Thanks for any input!

Yes atmospheric pressure makes a difference. I had a similar instance on my old fitbit when I was outside watching field hockey in a howling gale.0

Fitbit trackers that count floors use an altimeter to calculate how many floors you've climbed. An altimeter is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure.
The feature isn't used in calculating calorie burns or anything. It's just a way to encourage people to use the stairs more.

I've never gotten that many extra! However, I get extra floors all the time, especially in windy weather. I think my record was over 100 extra. Basically, I think if atmospheric pressure decreases while you're generating steps, you're going to get flights of stairs counted.
As far as I know there is no fix. I just ignore the number.0 -
My FitBit Charge HR thinks I've climbed 60+ floors today - and there is NO WAY. Glad to come across this thread and find an explanation.0

A few days ago I got 98 floors while on a stationary bicycle and another time I got around 90. I used to never get many extra flights of stairs (at most 5 extra a day) but lately the numbers I'm getting are WAY off. I was wondering if something has changed to make it more sensitive because I've had a fitbit for years and only recently have I started getting all the extra stairs. Today I replaced my old Force with a Charge and today I got lots of extra stairs too.0
