New to running

Just introducing myself. I'm new to the group and pretty new to running. I just finished the c25k program. My speed is too slow to actually finish a 5k in 30 minutes, so I am currently taking a little bit of time to up my distance until I can actually get to 3.1 miles. Then I'll move into a 10K training program. Marathons are my ultimate goal.
This past Saturday I almost made it 40 minutes… could have gone longer if I hadn't encountered a huge hill! It was really thrilling for me, because it was the first day when I felt like I could keep going (instead of wondering if it was over yet) and I could feel myself learning to love running. I'm can't remember the exact distance… about 2.9 miles. I'm thinking I'll be able to hit 3.1 by this next Saturday.

Congratulations on your accomplishment.
I started running long before the C25K program existed. I did find that once I was able to run a 5k comfortably the rest all fell into place. The hardest thing is simply getting started on the journey and you are well on your way.0 -
I started ith C25K went on to C210K and finally ran two half marathons in the last three weeks. It took me 9 months at the tender age of nearly 50.
Now I am starting to very cautiously train for a full on this September. The only advise I can give you is up your mileage slowly! I had an overuse injury at the end of last year which took me weeks to recover. Make sure you take rest days!
Best of luck

Congrats on completing the c25k program and starting your journey as a runner! You are still getting conditioned, so know that it gets better. When you first start running, it's not really fun. But that's coming, so stick with it. I've no doubt you will be able to use your discipline to hit your goal of running a marathon. I will tell you to take your time as you slowly ramp up your mileage. Your cardio sometimes is there before the rest of your body truly is and you can get injured. Stay patient and healthy and you will be amazed at what you can do. Good luck!
