6,000 steps = 2,000 calories?!

I have just started using mfp and there seems to be an issue with the UP24 sync.

Look at my day today, just over 6,700 steps taken and Mfp gives me nearly 1,900 calories for it! That's clearly incorrect

In the UP app it only shows 527 active calories so where in earth does that 1,892 come from?

My settings are in sedementary and I'm a 112kg male aiming to lose 1kg a week.
Any ideas what's going on?

    Connect your accounts: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/97

    Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

No need to log any step-based activity—your UP is tracking it for you. Log food & drink (including water) in MFP. Log non-step exercise (like biking or swimming) either in the UP app or in MFP—never both.

Your UP total burn is your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). Follow your MFP calorie goal, eating back your UP calorie adjustments.

The quote above is from an earlier thread (subject "Tips!") in this group. Don't know if it will help solve your situation, but the suggestions @editorgrrl mentions are consistent with my experience. I have used MFP/UP tracking and syncing for the last 6 months with little if any even minor problem.

Your UP total burn is your TDEE (aka maintenance calories). Your default MFP calorie goal is your activity level minus your deficit. Your adjustments are the difference between your UP total burn and your MFP activity level.

If you click on that 1,892-calorie adjustment, you'll see the math MFP used to calculate it.
