Stress of not having a scale

I had to leave town for a family emergency and have no access to a scale. I've weighed myself every day since I had surgery in November 2014. I won't be back home for a week and a half and seriously don't know how I'll survive. Maybe this will be the event that finally stops the scale "obsession". I hope I'm not the only one who has been "scale crazy" most of my life. The good news is that I packed my protein powder and protein bars so I've been eating correctly. I guess I'll just think of the excitement I'll feel if I lose weight the next time I step on that scale!

Oh my goodness. I am going away for the weekend and I am freaking out, I don't know what I would do for a week. I know I should weigh once a week, but I don't. Glad you packed your food, don't let stress make the decisions for you.

I went on a 4 day car trip and brought mine with me for the hotel room :) I might draw the line at flying though...

Omg. Too funny. I'm flying up north in a couple months. I will use this as a dry run since I don't want to use valuable carry on space for a scale

LOL! I used to travel for my job and I did pack a scale when I was going to be away for a couple of weeks. Yes I was on a plane.

I've traveled several times since my WLS and the very first time was a plane to Alaska to visit my son and family. There was no way I was going to take anything more than a few snacks for the plane. They made sure they had on hand what I could eat, and I didn't bother weighing myself. Since then it's been several road trips and I take my own food for the road trip itself and snacks for the vacation, but meals while at our destination are restaurant or someone's home. I am careful what I eat and there's always much more physical activity than normal. This last one I actually lost a pound. :)

I have had to learn to let go of the scale at times, and I don't weigh myself when I travel. I am not one to weigh myself daily though so it isn't so bad for me! I do plan ahead and take snacks with me, especially when flying. I recently took a trip that required 22 hours of flying, and even with requesting special meals from the airline, they completely got it wrong, so I was very glad that I brought some food with me.

I had to actually have my husband hide the scales. I was weighing in several times a day. After the third week I thought I was going to loose my mind, he finally gave it back after some promises not to weigh in every day.
    Lesson learnt!
I degress. Good idea for taking your protein powder and bars and looking at it as an opportunity to learn.
