Hello people! I've been a member of this board for a while I think, but only just started visiting it today. Here's my story (the abbreviated version).
CW: 174.2
GW: *shrugs* 145 ish?
36 years old
5' 7.5"
I have 10 year old twins (soon to be 11)...lost a lot of weight when they were 2.5 years old (I guess somewhere between 60-70, but my mad-cow is acting up and I can't actually remember lol).
January 26th was my first SL day - and this week I'm entering my 6th week. Current standings are:
Squat: 130 (failed today and plan to deload a significant chunk on Thursday to work on form and crawl my way back up to heavy)
OHP: 80 achieved today! Woot!
DL: 130
BP: 80 (move to 85 on Thurs)
BR: 80 (move to 85 on Thurs)

My squat form is trash at the moment which is why I'm making a significant deload. I figure I'll base the amount of the deload on my performance Thursday. I'll start with the bar and do a set of 5, and then add 10 lbs to each set until my form is a struggle. That'll be my baseline.

On the days I don't lift, I run or walk on an incline. Thankfully Spring is moving closer and I can venture outside again and incorporate a larger variety (put the bikes and kayaks in motion).

My diet has been touch and go so my losses are slow if at all. I'm re-evaluating my caloric intake today. The average intake has been 1738/day over the last 30 days...that's below maintenance so that's good, but possibly not as low as it should be? Not sure, working on that now. Maybe it should actually be more!

Anyways - hello all, I'm looking forward to making this journey in similar company :)

Wow! You have made awesome gains! Were you a lifter before this? That is a really fast move up!
Well if you are happy with rate of weight loss I would just stick with that, unless you want to lose faster. Your gains might slow down if you go too far into a deficit and I would be pretty excited about those gains!

Nope, not a lifter...it seems I've always been a bit strong, though. I've been called things like the "power-hitter" or "power house" when involved in sports...so maybe I just have freak-muscles? LOL...in any event, I'm really just trying to melt some fat and show some of the muscle that's clearly hidden in there haha. I decided to up my calories from 1400 to 1640 (which is still less than what I've averaged this month). I certainly don't want to compromise gains :)

I have heard that my gains are pretty fast - it is sort of freaking me out, like maybe I'm not doing it right! I know my squat form isn't perfect, but the rest seems to be going ok. The rows are getting ridiculously hard, though...gotta make sure I'm not screwing up that form either.

Welcome and those are some awesome numbers. That's one great OHP. My upper body slowed quite a bit part way through SL but increases always feel pretty great. We'll look forward to seeing you're check-ins on the forums.

Oh and ooo to kayaks. I want to learn to do that some day.
