Tricks for the last 6

For you marathoners, do you have any tricks to keep your mind busy during those last 6 miles?
I have my (two) kids each write me 3 notes, which I carry in my Spi belt. Starting at 20 I read one each mile. It may sound corny, but it gives me something to look forward to.
I'm always open to new ideas though.

That's a really neat idea! Not sure I could run and read though. LOL.
I haven't run a marathon yet, but I think I will be thinking about that medal around my neck.0 -

I agree--I've texted and run before...that did NOT end well!0 -
If the course is set up to accommodate it, arrange to have someone run with you for the last few miles. There are 2 things this does: 1) gives you something to look forward to and 2) helps distract you for that last little bit.0

My son and wife were at my side for my last race for the last two miles. I wasn't sure if it helped or not. Sometimes I prefer quiet to words of encouragement when I'm that exhausted. It was something to always remember though. I like the fact that my boy will look back at that day and remember his dad working that hard0
