Am quitting one of my anti depressants. Have been gving this serious thought and I think if what happened over new year hadnt happened Id have coped through winter with just my SAD light. Weathers warming up now and I know my moods improving. Also I havent had any proper sustained weight loss since I was put on them at the start of Jan and if anything will derail me its that. Will stick with my long term one but the new one is going. Wish me luck, and fingers crossed some weight finally shifts

This was the new one they added to help cope after all your stress and losses, right? I'd say you are good to go as long as you keep using your light and do regular mental checks... You know yourself better than anyone. I think your body is simply in regrouping mode... You must be patient. As long as your lifts are steady or improving, to me, that's a win.

Lise, take it from one who's been on anti depressants for 13 (almost) years at this point... It takes a month to 6 weeks to feel the effect from going off it. Be careful doing this. Take care of yourself. You know what's best for you.

I will be careful I've no intention of going backwards have spoken to my husband and a cpl really good friends who I trust to be honest if they see me back sliding. I just think I can manage without and I hate taking the meds at all but have come to terms with the long term one for now. Planning on keeping on the light til April when it's much warmer then restarting it at end August. I think if new year hadn't happened I'd have gotten by but life happens and I can't change that.

Also had a good word with myself about getting back on my eating plan. Luckily haven't let gym slide. Clare doesn't let me she's good that way as she knows I need it for stability. So have maintained and am ready to get going again

It sounds like you have really thought this out and made an informed decision you are confident in. Just like it takes weeks for it to build up and become effective it takes weeks to taper off of it. You are a smart woman and know what you are doing. I am glad to hear that you have good friends that will call you out if they notice something because I know I personally don't notice it until someone else points it out. Take care.
