online dating encounters

With online dating becoming the norm, I'm sure a lot of people have had many experiences with it by now. Share your online dating encounters whether it was intentional or by accident, funny or just horrible or embarrassing.
Here are a few of mine:
1. Went to a really nice (fancy) restaurant with a good looking guy. Conversation was ok but I didn't feel a spark, he seemed very pretentious and somewhat snobby by the way he carried himself and some of the things he said. Eg. He made a comment about his ex wanting to be a hair dresser like that was a bad thing and it was below him ( I would love to be in cosmetology). Anyway, At the end of the date he offered to walk me back (we met for lunch across from my work) and I thought that was nice...then he says - hold on a minute let me get my bike...I'm thinking motorcycle? nope he straight up went and got his bicycle from the valet :laugh
2. I had been avoiding this guy online for weeks, we emailed a few times but I never agreed to meet because I just wasn't really interested. He had been very persistent about it too. So one night I go out with a big group of friends for dinner and while we are waiting for a table in walks in my online friend. We had never met in person so I played it off and pretended not to see him. My friends and I got seated for dinner and I could feel him staring at me the whole night. awkward.:ohwell:
What made it worse is at the time none of my friends knew I was doing the online dating thing so I was praying he wouldn't come over and say hello and I would have to explain how we knew each other. Yikes.

I was out to dinner at a Sushi bar with some girls from work, some of whom were from out of town. We were laughing, generally having fun. I get home that night and have a message on OKC. Some random guy asked "Were you at <name of sushi bar> tonight? I thought I recognized you..." I had never met the guy, never viewed his page, never received a message from him or anything. That was just creepy.0 -
My worst dating story ever.... I was emailing with this guy on POF for a couple of weeks. Things started to get a little too flirty so I suggested we meet for coffee. He agreed and made some comment that had me a little concerned about what he was expecting so I wrote him saying "just to be clear - nothing is going to happen. If we like each other then we can make a real date for another time." He agreed so I went. Of course, when he got to Starbucks, he was expecting me to go home with him. When I refused, he started yelling at me! He was yelling about how women play games, lead guys on, etc. He made such a scene that the manager came out and asked us to leave. I told the manager that the guy was a lunatic and I was not leaving until I was sure that he was way gone so the manager escorted him out and let me sit there for a while until I was sure he wouldn't be waiting for me in the parking lot.0

That's just awful. How is it some men feel so entitled to sex? I dont really get it...........:noway:0 -

I now carry pepper spray and a taser with me on first dates. If they're too close then you can't use the pepper spray but 350,000 volts means he's going down!0 -
Nola - I think it's inevitable that we're going to bump into someone that's seen us online. I'm a kitchen designer, and I do house visits. I'm pretty sure one day I'll get recognised.......lol
I think my worst one was a guy that started screaming at me cos I trod on his new white trainers. He was quite scary.
Another guy told me he was bored with my conversation......lol (It was the lead up to the Olympics and I was excited about it). So, i got my coat and left........
Another guy told me that he always looks at other women when he's on a date, and that I needed to get used to it!! :noway:
Another guy did a very strange thing with his lip, looked at me with crazy eyes, and got up and left........
That was about 18months ago - one after the other - you could say I was scarred for a while.....0 -
I was emailing with this woman from POF. She was pretending to play hard to get, but it was clear she wanted the D. So after a week or two of constant flirting, SHE invited ME for a "coffee" (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) at a local Starbucks. I guess she was getting anxious. And she must have known that particular Starbucks was quite near my apartment. I'm thinking, "This woman doesn't do subtle." Giggity giggity.
So anyhoo, I show up, and all of a sudden she's June Cleaver. The only thing she was fondling was a rape whistle. I innocently asked if she wanted butter on her muffin and she practically screamed bloody murder. Talk about uptight. The manager even came out and asked us to leave after her outburst! I couldn't believe this was the same woman I'd been emailing for weeks. Strange.
So I quickly got out of there before she could follow me home. Really dodged a bullet with that one.

@Ana, i'm so sorry you had those bad experiences. Those guys don't sound very nice. Glad you stood up for yourself and walked out!
p.s. what is it about starbucks that makes people go crazy? too much caffeine? haha. so much for meeting my next guy for coffee0 -
I hod one guy I met up with who was from Turkey.....
1 looked nothing like his pictures and not in a good way
2 he kept trying to rub his hands all over me and kept trying to scoot his chair closer. He also tried to sniff my hair :noway: ..... He then followed me into the club I was going to after wards........ The only way I could get rid of him was calling FWB to come over and help..the guy just wouldn't go away0 -
Where do I start... lol!! I'll just give you my worst
Sounds like we have all met a whack job or two... being asked to leave an establishment over their behaviour is f*cking nuts!
1. My first online date EVER and worst... We hadn't been at the pub long and he was trying to hold my hand across the table. He frequently got up to go to the washroom, and his eyes got more red as the night went on. Come to realize the loooong finger nail he had meant he was a drug user. Then when we go to leave he jumps in my car with me and shoves his tongue down my throat, it was sick. I never saw him again, but a few days later I had went out to a football game with a male friend. I got home at 1:30am and I had just gotten into my house and my phone rings. It is him and he is asking me if I want company, he is in my neighbourhood. First of all, you live on the other side of a 1 million person city, it's 1:30am and I met you once, AND all I could think was that he was stalking me because he asked me if I had fun with 'that guy'.
ETA: and I had to pay!0 -

Guy asked me if I was open to letting a dog *kitten* me.
That didn't go anywhere.0 -

I'm not on any dating sites. Plus I tend to have an "anti-crazy aura" on all the time. I can't find the crazies even when I try.0 -

I have so many...
My craziest was this guy that talked to his car and took me to a craft store on our date. When I shut the door to his car a little too hard he rubbed the dashboard and said, "it's ok Betsy she didn't mean to hurt you". I found this odd. Then as we were wasting time before the movie he asked if we could stop at the craft store that he needed to pick some things up. I also found this odd. When we got out of the car he rubbed the hood and said, "I'll be right back Betsy, be good." I went in the bathroom and made a call to me friend to get me out of that date!
Recently, I went on a date that wasn't going horribly but there really wasn't a click. I had had a headache for 3 weeks at that time so I probably wasn't doing my best at trying to keep the conversation going and it wasn't flowing naturally. The only thing I really didn't like was he bought one round of drinks and I bought the next two and he didn't buy any more. When we went to leave the bar I ran into a friend, I turned around to introduced him and he was gone. I stepped outside to see if he was waiting for me outside and he was getting in his car. He didn't say goodbye, thanks or anything. When I texted him about it. He told me he could tell he was making me miserable and he didn't want to make me any more miserable.0 -

Me too. None have worked for a 2nd date on one or both of our parts but nothing crazy has happened with mine but then I don't go out on many. Think I have had 5 total.0 -
Now that I have a bit more time this one is one of my favorites:
Guy sends me a message asking if I want to come over for movie and a pizza. I told him that I wasn't comfortable meeting him in a non-public place. He said that he wished he could take me out and the whole nine yards and blah blah blah but he couldn't. I was curious, I figured he was unemployed/broke or didn't have a car or something so I asked him why.
He said he was under house arrest. But it's okay because he didn't actually do anything wrong, the judge even told him that his hands were tied.
I told him that regardless I only meet strangers in a public area first and that I'm sorry but until he can I don't feel comfortable with it.
He proceeds to RAMPAGE at my about how I am judgmental and that the government doesn't have the ability to take away his right to date and that I'm a crazy b*tch and blah blah blah.
I laughed at him and blogged about it, then sent him the link. He deleted his profile.0 -

Well I think we have all showed up to a date and noticed that the person used a "fake" photo or one that was 10 years old. My crazy story isn't as wild as some of the others posted but I'll play along. I once had a gal from OKC that lived near by and told me that she "thinks" she has seen me walking around the neighborhood (possible I walk a lot). So I suggested we get a drink or something since we both live so close. She suggested Ice Cream on the corner baskin robbins so I was ok with that so we decided to meet Saturday. Friday night she called talked for less than 5 minutes and I could barely hear her I had to keep asking her to repeat statments it was a horrible cell connection. So she told me she would call me Saturday to set the time. So Saturday around 12 she texted me saying that she didn't think we were a good match and didn't want to meet. !!!!!!!!
Then 2 days later she tries to add me on FB with a message saying that she was sorry she flaked but she thought my dogs would eat her cats but realized that was stupid and wanted to try and meet up again!!!!!!!!

Some of my worst
Great phone chemistry--we meet, looks like pic EXCEPT he smiles and missing all front teeth!!
Went out with one guy--was unsure from the beginning-not my type--then I decide not going to work, and we had gone to a hockey game and were on the car on the way home and he says "I am getting the feeling you don't like me"and I said "I just don't think we have a romantic connection" and he says ok.......then when getting out of the car, he says "so are we going to try this again?" ummm....no!
Then, the strangest was the guy who told me he wanted to be in relationship but NO physical contact for at least 5 years---he told me this after kissing me, and said it included any contact--hand holding, hugging anything............
Another fun one was just an email I got....guy was 27--I was 40......so I told him thanks, but you are far too young for me, so he proceeded to tell me that it was ok, he was more mature than most guys his age--he had to be because he had spent 7 years in prison!0 -

ouch this is probably worse than the rest of your stories. I am always suspicious of someone who doesn't have a. full body pic or b.a pic with a full smile. I get suspicious if you are just smirking in all your pictures and makes me suspect they are missing teeth LOL.0 -

I almost never show my teeth when I smile... I wore braces and retainers for so many of my 'formative' years that I just taught myself to keep my lips down, I guess. *shrugs* It's not always a bad thing... sometimes it's a habit because of dental care. #My2Pennies0
