The Rosary begins with the Apostles' Creed, the most succinct and ancient statement of faith we have as Christians, perhaps even including the Bible. Traditionally, this is believed to go back the the apostles themselves, hence the name. Likely it had a later origin than that, but nonetheless it goes back to at least the fourth century. The point is, that the Creed reminds us of what we believe, and reminds us that this belief binds us together. It is an expression of unity, and points toward the fulfillment of our beliefs in the eschatological fulfillment of history.
In other words, reciting the Creed together at the start of the run serves to underscore the fact that we as a Church are traveling the paths of history toward a destination we cannot see, but guided by the spirit that keeps us together. The camaraderie of a run serves to support those who falter in doubt, and encourage by example. In this context the gap between belief and action is bridged; our faith binds us together, and this binding is carried out in the performance of the run.
