Yep, there you go. I couldn't figure out a delicate way to say it.

Today's challenge is to try and hit your fiber goals. A regular gastrointestinal system has fewer issues with the colon and various other parts.

Suggested daily intake:

[n]Under 50[/b]
Men - 38 grams
Women - 25 grams

Over 50
Men - 30 grams
Women - 21 grams

These are the suggested numbers, but you really just need enough to keep you regular.

NOTE: This has absolutely nothing to do with "cleansing". That's an entirely different topic for debate.

[Insert random poop joke here.]

There's not delicate way to respond either....
Advice I'd give, if you're not used to getting that execess fiber, be careful when you start increasing it because you may get an embarrassing surprise, drink plenty of water because or you may bind your system (ie constipation in the worst way, ever), make sure you wash your hands afterwards (public health official in me, what can I say??) and if you're on antibiotics, be extra careful because you can end up with C.diff and you can share that quite easily!!

Ok - I bit. I wanted to see why people over 50 had less of a need for fiber but the article didn't say. But there was a great list of additional articles which included a fiber chart.

This little berry, which is an amazing power house of a fruit, blows the other fruits out of the chart for fiber. And yet, it's a tiny little thing that melts in your mouth practically. Amazing.

Oh yeah, thanks V. I almost forgot. Fiber fills you up too! (The "fullness chart" on your link reminded me.)

When I changed my diet due to GI problems and I started eating more fiber boy let me tell you my gut was sooooo happy! And when I don't get my fiber I suffer. It really does help me be regular and move in a good fashion! Trust me if you ever have GI problems you will do anything to get it straight!
Having to know where a toilet is at age 27 is not fun!!!!

I am not a huge raspberry fan but I like it 'in' stuff! Like I want to make a raspberry vinaigrette. But just eating them plain on their own ....mmmmeh!
I am going to stab at educated guess...older folks tend to eat less as they age so that may be a cause for less, as well as, the motility may slow some so don't want to aggravate it....totally guessing.
