Can sudden gluten intake cause my cold?

I've been 100% GF since September to address the autoimmune effects of Hashimoto's. What a life changer! We had a death in the family yesterday and I succumbed by eating an entire Cinnabon! Besides feeling extremely fatigued with brain fog (my old symptoms) today I'm coming down with a cold. As I get in my car for the 850mi drive to the funeral, I'm curious if sudden gluten intake could be the cause of the cold. Any experience or research on this?

If it is an actual cold caused by the rhinovirus - then no, it would not be gluten. But be warned that the auto immune response to gluten for many people is sinus pain and congestion with a runny nose. I think that you will be able to look back and gas whether or not it was a head cold or a reaction. I'm sorry for your loss, a death in the family is always difficult for everyone. I hope you have a safe trip and feel better soon0
