I think I'm one

I haven't taken a test yet, but I think I might try it. Why do I think I'm one? Strawberries have always been sour to me. I have to have sugar or I just can't manage them. It's like my face is turning inside out. Broccoli. It's an invasive food to me. One piece of broccoli on the edge of fettuccine Alfredo and I can taste it on the other side of the bowl. It's awful. Romaine lettuce. Yes, it's healthier for you, but I find it bitter. I can sometimes manage red leaf but it's still bitter. And red food coloring. I remember this from when I was a kid. One birthday I had a Raggedy Ann cake. A lot of red. The frosting was bitter. That bitterness overwhelmed the sweet of the frosting. I also was forced to eat sweet potatoes and yes, I did gag when I did. I hate them to this day. I will not allow them in my house. I may have PTSD over sweet potatoes.
And then there's sweet. I'm good with candy, cakes, donuts, etc., but lately, I've had a problem with sweet meats. Ham, for example, or too much bacon. Ham is often sugar-cured. I can take bacon in small doses. I used to love a good BLE (BLT without the tomato--I have Crohn's and it's one of my triggers--and the addition of a Fried Egg.) but now if it's got too much bacon, I'll get to a point where I can't swallow it. It's a sensation on the back of my tongue that just says I've had enough. My head with shake (involuntarily) and then I know I'm done. I couldn't swallow another bite. My husband usually doesn't mind. He finishes it off for me.
Those are my anecdotal thoughts on it. It does make me afraid of most green veggies. I like green beans, lettuce (iceberg mostly), cucumbers, chives and leeks. I've tried some others. Most recently avocado. No thank you. That's about it in the green category. I can't have tomatoes. I miss those. Makes eating Italian a challenge.

I took the test last night. My daughter counted 36, making me very likely a supertaster. I'd suspected it for a long time. She and my husband came up as normal tasters.
I remember diet soda tasting horrible, where others think they taste sweet like regular soda. I don't consider that as strong evidence. Strawberries for me are like the red flag. People talk about sweet strawberries. Never met one.
What are some of the foods you can't eat because it's overwhelming?0
