I tried this once before, kind of. I listened to the book Why French Women Don't Get Fat on CD (that's the kind of thing I listen to in my kitchen) and the author spoke a lot about actually thinking about your body when you're eating. Am I hungry? Am I thirsty? Why am I eating this?

That was a while ago but still sometimes I remember that when I'm downing a beer or grabbing that extra doughnut. Being a Wisconsinite, the beer thing may be tough (am I thirsty in the way that I should be quenching my thirst with beer?). I'm willing to consider it.

Right now I'm reading this thing while eating and I am completely unaware that I'm eating, how much I'm eating, whether it tastes good, what it tastes like, what does my body think of this food, what is my stomach telling me. I've got a long way to go. Here's to starting somewhere!
