bloated, gassy, pain, gaining weight...could it be gluten?

In my 40s I had terrific willpower, once I went back to college for my Masters all hell broke loose. In 7 years I gained 35-40 pounds.
And my willpower went out the window! Is there anyone who has a method of staying gluten free. I do not know anyone who has to be gluten free so there isn't: much in the way of support. Lately each attack is worse, my mouth has broken out in sores and I am not feeling myself.
HELP

Been there. Canker sores suck! I also get severe stomach issues and neurological issues like blurred vision, migraines, and anxiety.
Method isn't really the issue. It's mentally overcoming the desire for it. The biggest change is realizing that that bite of the oey goey cinabun just isn't worth the intense pain and sluggishness after it. When you maintain a safe gluten free diet for a while, you'll feel better. Speaking from experience, that 'better' may be a feeling you've never had. When you finally feel better, it is hard to intentionally feel crappy again.
I will add that healing my stomach and bringing my body to fully-nourished health allowed me to regain a tolerance to may contain. Some days I can even have a taste of my boyfriend's pie, or funnel cake. This recovery started at a point where I couldn't even kiss him or share a drink if he'd had the food or I would get the sores. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, I promise.

ALTHOUGH... if you don't know it is gluten, see a doctor first please. Most testing for gluten intolerance and Celiac Disease rely on it's presence in your system. I had to undergo the work twice as a doctor took me off gluten before testing.

I agree that you should seek testing while you are still eating gluten. Then afterward even if tests are negative you can go gluten free and see how it makes you feel! For me willpower isn't much of an issue because I feel so bad when I eat gluten that I just don't want to. I seriously feel like I'm dying of dysentery like on the old Oregon Trail game! lol

if you're bloated in pain and gassy there is a chance you have ibs as well,I have ibs and allergic to gluten but gluten doesn't causes these problems for me just the ibs does that and even causes a sore throat during my last really bad flare up.
I had to start taking probiotics again to sort my lower half out.
