so this week was the first week using my fitbit properly with calorie deficit. i decided to opt for the daily eating goal to change but always having the same deficit based on activity. clearly this seems to have worked this week and averaging out my TDEE it appears through the week i am burning 1900 calories per day roughly. i am really happy with the loss seeing as i was wanting to be able to eat as much as possible and losing at the same time.

Glad to hear you are happy with your results. It is nice to see such a positive post, so many are afraid the Fitbit will give them an extra step or two or not count one >:) , so loving your attitude.

Being able to eat as much as possible, while losing is what makes me happy too.

I was so excited when I ordered by Fitbit Charge HR, but then reading all the concerns and complaints I was worried I had made a mistake. Yes, it is good to read some positives about the gadget. I saw that mine was delivered today at home. So, I am interested in trying it, but not as excited as I was a few days ago. :-/

No gadget will be perfect for a lot of reasons. Our bodies, metabolism, heart, skin - there are a lot of variables. As long as I remember that it's actually my body - NOT the gadget or app that's doing the actual accounting, I'm ok. For me, I don't need it to be exact and perfect. I lived in a world of vagueness before. Unaware of my calories and nutrients eaten, unaware of how much I moved. No matter if my scale shows a loss this week, I know that I am living a healthier life because I'm aware of it. Without the Fitbit and MFP, I fear I would slide back into vagueness. And pizza.

I'm glad you're still giving it a shot, chandra. It works for just as many people, if not more, than those it's not working for.

<---who will always live in a world of vagueness : :p

@rachylouise87 did you eat any or all of your exercise calories back this week?

I get that vagueness world, all too much :)

I agree totally with what you are saying. There are thousands of users who never post on Fitbit or MFP that are living very happily with their Fitbit and the results they are getting. I am a very satisfied user as well. It would just be nice in here to see more of that sort of feedback instead of the "I think it is inaccurate for ME." When it might just be a user not reading the posting before theirs, the FAQ or the FB website info, which is pretty darned good.

i ate 50-100% back. i let the fitbit give me the adjustments and depending on activity level depends on whether i banked them or ate them. most times i chose to keep the same 250 deficit so the fitbit was in line. today i earned an extra 360 calories so i ate them back because i was hungry. i am getting a deficit of 250-350 per day which is totally manageable for 19lbs to lose. i have been wearing it on my non dominant hand with the dominant setting. also stride length has been set and i tested this out on a walk last week. everything seems to be accurate. i let the fitbit calculate zumba calories as it is step based.
