Hanging onto the last 10 lbs while bfing

Is this a myth or what? I feel as though I cannot shed these final pounds! Anyone else in the same boat?

I think it's true - but I should say, depending on the person. My body loves to hang on to weight - it's happy being round and soft. I have to battle against that. I gained 48 lbs (lots of swelling - not all fat/weight), so by 3 months pp, I was just hanging on to the last 10 lbs. Once I stopped bfing/pumping at 8 months pp, I was able to lose the rest of the weight.
So I definitely experienced this. My friend, who's little guy is 4 months older than mine, told me not to even think about "weight loss" until reaching at least 6 months pp. Your body is still adjusting from being pregnant and if you might struggle to see real results.
With that said, if others breastfed and were able to lose all the weight (and not have supply issues - which was my problem), then more power to you! Maybe I'll be more fortunate in that sense with my next pregnancy. But at least I will go into it prepared to hang on to the last 10 for a while if that's the case!0 -
Wondering the same, as i have lost 45 pounds and have come to a plateau. I am still nursing my 10 month old so hoping to lose the last pounds when she weans at a year.0

I hope this is true! However, last time I stopped nursing I gained 5 lbs so fast! My ob told it me it was a rebound from still eating my nursing calories (I didn't count calories at the time though, so maybe I was), on the other hand I was 16 ish weeks pregnant when he stopped nursing (he was 13 months). I would love to be able to lose 10 more once I stop nursing, I am sad about not being able to eat as much when I"m done.0

I held onto weight while nursing, but only until about 18 months in. After that it was a lot easier to lose, even though she was still nursing. I found the insatiable hunger with breastfeeding to be my nemisis though and I am sure thats why I did not lose. That and I did not work out at all. I am looking forward to seeing how it is different this time with better habits, so we will see!0
