i just ordered the charge and realized that it wasn't the HR version that I wanted. Is it worth it to get the HR instead? I'm having a hard time justifying getting the regular version because I can track steps on my phone?

How good is the Charge for tracking TDEE and calorie burn? Is the charge only effective for step tracking or can it track calorie burn from other exercise?

I got the hr about a week ago. I really like it because it tracks when I'm in cardio or fat burn zone, so if I'm doing lots of yard work or other physical activity it calculates the extra calorie burn, where normally it might not cuz I'm not always walking a lot

Suggest you look through the existing topics which have several about the Charge HR and read up on what people have already commented that answers your question.

The Charge like the other non-HR models are going to be really good estimates of calorie burn for step-based exercise.
But non-step-based, obviously swimming needs manual entry, as well as biking, rowing, lifting, elliptical, stair climber, ect.

These devices are NOT just counting steps like your phone could indeed do, they are dynamically calculating distance based on amount of impact compared to expected, and from that a good calorie burn estimate not only for daily life with different stride lengths used, but also for step-based exercise.

I've yet to see a phone app that can adjust well enough for that.
