I have a question about my FitBit Surge Calories.

When I swipe left on my watch, I can see the time, steps I've taken, bpm, miles I've walked, and finally the calories I've burned. It is 10:27 in the morning currently and it is telling me I've burned 838 calories for the day so far. I've already consumed 400 calories today. Does this mean I can consume another 438 calories and be in maintenance or will I still be in a deficit? Help please! TIA

Your watch will be finished working out your burn for the entire day at midnight. As long as you don't eat more than that amount of calories today you will be in deficit.0

I have a ChargeHR and aim to burn 2000 cals per day (I have a desk job so I'm sitting all day!). I try to keep my calorie intake around 1400 giving me a deficit of 600 per day.0

The Fitbit uses your height, weight, and sex to determine your average BMR and accounts for your heart rate. Most of what you're seeing is your calories burned while idle. I PERSONALLY wouldn't eat back too many of those BMR calories lol0

Very helpful, thanks! The Fitbit uses your height, weight, and sex to determine your average BMR and accounts for your heart rate. Most of what you're seeing is your calories burned while idle. I PERSONALLY wouldn't eat back too many of those BMR calories lol

Actually, don't worry about where the calories burned come from - just eat less than what you burn in total FOR THE DAY.
Don't even worry about being in a deficit up to any hour of the day except when you go to bed.
Considering your BMR level burn is the biggest amount of calories you burn each day - it really don't make sense to think you shouldn't eat those back.
Besides the fact - they are all mixed together.
It's not like you can specifically think - "I'll eat back those steps I took during lunch, but not walking in to or out of work, but I'll eat back the workout, but I won't eat back the sleep".
That doesn't even make sense and isn't possible anyway.0
