so I'm recovering from a restrictive eating disorder and I have started to eat more! It's very mentally hard and was just wondering am I eating enough calories? I'm currently female, 27, 5ft 7inchs and weight 109lbs! I'm eating 2200 at the moment and burn about 300 a day through walking! Is this ok to gain 1/2lb a week? Any advice would be great as I don't have a nutritionist yet to tell me what to exactly to eat I have to wait to be referred and that could take weeks

Hey Im just weight restored from anorexia, so weird im 5'7 and 27yrs old :) dont know why my profile says 29!! I think it took me about 3000 calories or more maybe 3200 to gain the weight. It was very difficult, I didn't see a dietitian but I was following a meal plan made by a dietitian. I had to drink 3 nutritional drinks a day on top of meals and snacks, I think that is what really got the weight up. I would say to start with a meal plan, 3 meals and 3 snacks per day and just see how you go from there, you will be surprised how much it takes to actually gain!

You may need a bit more than that to gain (which you need to). See how you go. It is mentally really hard. A few tricks are to incorporate high cal stuff like nuts, olives, avocados.

Best of luck to both of you, and well done on turning the corner and getting yourselves well :)
