Am I supposed to take off the Fitbit when doing Zumba?

When wearing my Fitbit Flex, if I am doing an hour of Zumba, it seems to "double-count" my steps for the day. But of course, as a fitness tracker, you would think you wouldn't have to take it off to exercise! Any thoughts are appreciated
I've only had it for about a week, but so far am not loving it all that much! (seems a bit confusing to use)

I do Wii Zumba several times a week. I have always worn my Fitbit while doing Zumba. What I don't do is log my Zumba workout. I just let Fitbit handle it. If you want it to show up in your MFP news feed, make a manual entry.
If you're finding your Fitbit confusing, you're probably over-thinking it. Accurately log your food in MFP, turn on negative adjustments, let your Fitbit handle any step-based exercise (including Zumba), log any non-step based exercise (weight lifting, yoga, etc.) in Fitbit (or MFP, but not both) and trust it for several weeks. Then reevaluate your progress.
I would recommend that you read the FAQ that is in the stickies for the group. It is long, but has lots of useful information:

Leave your Fitbit on, and log Zumba in the Fitbit app (that's what I do) or in MFP—never both. Exercise logged in MFP overwrites your Fitbit burn during that time.0 -

Why do you think it double-counts your steps?
Do you create an activity record with the button?
Do you also manually log a workout? Based on what calorie burn?0 -
I would just let my fitbit handle zumba. No extra logging required.0

In the Fitbit app, click "add exercise," then the stopwatch at top right. Click "log," then type Zumba in the search box.
Next time, Zumba'll already be listed under "recent." Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.0 -
thx hun i will try that0
