Good morning ladies and gents!!!!
I'm still in recoup mode from the weekend of fun filled life. Today is one month for Reggie and I, so I am celebrating that. (NO FOOD celebration- but we are planning to go to the park and walk together). I am also celebrating being able to pick myself up and dust myself off from some negative emotions that came around. Some bad juju... still can't put my finger on what's wrong, but something seems off.
Today I am looking forward to going to the horse park with Reggie and walk around. I LOVE horses, so this will be awesome for us.
I see my surgeon on Friday, hopefully he can help determine why I am STUCK at the same darn weight for about 3 weeks now. It is so hard to deal with as sometimes I seriously wonder if I could have done this without surgery at all. Kept the sleeve and worked it best I could. I truly was hoping for a better weight loss by now. But, then I remember the bigger picture, I'm getting healthier.
I plan on trying Carly's LCHF diet. I joined the group and plan on asking some ?s there to see about protein.
So how about ya'll. What are you celebrating and looking forward to??

Today I look forward to going home and spending lunch with my sweetheart. Since he's been working overnights, lunch has been the time when he's been getting his best sleep, so I haven't been going home to see him as much. Since he doesn't work tonight, he emphatically requested me come home today.
It's nice to be missed.
Today I celebrate starting off strong with my LOADED TEA, instead of waiting a couple hours like yesterday. It sets up today as more likely to be successful, and that's what I need... Today's focus is HYDRATION.
Cari, I maintain that the reason we fight so hard most of the time is so that fun-filled life doesn't set us back too far! Congrats on the one month. That's a nice thing to celebrate. As for the negative emotions, don't let them trick you. Sometimes happiness makes us doubt, or stalling, or the sun not being out. Listen to them, evaluate their merit, and then do your best to shake them off. Sometimes, focusing on them, much like the clouds, makes them disappear... But make sure you are keeping up on your journaling and any other exercises your therapist has you doing.
Such fun things to look forward to!
Many times, Cari, when you lose 10% or so of your total body weight, your body kind of panics, hits that internal pause button, and has to catch up, so that it can continue moving on. A friend of mine says, "Sometimes a setback (or stall) is exactly the distance you need to get a running start to leap over your obstacles." It is possible that you MIGHT have been able to do this without the surgery, yes, but it is equally possible that your body NEEDED the surgery. There is no point second guessing a decision that has been made. Just do the best you can with the cards in your hand. You have lost how much since your surgery?? Work it out to pounds lost per week. Even WITH the surgery, losses more than 1 pound per week are AMAZING. Try celebrating how far you've come rather than how far you have to go.... It's hard when we fight so intensely for progress and just can't see it. Remember to take pictures, measure, and focus on the tangible things, like whether you can walk farther, have better energy, etc. There are SO MANY ways to measure success. I just survived a 6-8 week stall on my weight loss, which obviously my body was still doing something, because I felt pretty good.... So as long as I feel good, I know my body will catch up eventually. My overall long term health is more important that some mysterious made up weekly number.
The LCHF way of eating may or may not help you. Make sure to ask questions about how it can affect your particular surgery. I know that high quantities of fat can cause gastro distress for some types of surgery. For me, honestly, the control over cravings and binge tendencies is probably my favorite or one of my favorite aspects. That, and the mental clarity, the new found energy, the better sleep, and other things...
Protein should be based off of your lean body mass (that is everything in your body that isn't fat... My body fat percentage is around 45%. I currently weigh around 240.... So 55% is what is NOT fat.... 240 * .55 = 132 pounds of LBM. For sedentary, 0.6 grams of protein per pound of LBM to maintain muscles and all that, for heavy lifters, 1.0 grams of protein per.... That means at a minimum, to maintain my current muscles and such, I need 79.2 grams of protein a day up to around 132 grams of protein a day. I don't worry too much if I go over that amount, as long as I don't go over say 200 grams of protein while neglecting my fats.
Your carbs can be set from anywhere between 0 net grams of carbs to 100 grams of carbs daily, depending. My range is 20-25 total carb grams a day unless I eat more veggies, in which case that switches to 20-25 NET carb grams a day (subtracting the fiber, even though I don't need it for BMs, etc.). I am doing the Keto version of LCHFMP, so my numbers are a bit more extreme. My endocrinologist had me start around 100 grams of carbs a day, but the cravings for me didn't stop until I got to the 35-50 grams of carbs a day range. Each person is different. The rest of my eating I fill in with fats until satiety. That usually comes out to 20 grams of carbs, 90 grams of protein, and 125-175 grams of fat each day for my calorie goals (which I ignore) of 1700-1800... I eat when I'm hungry and don't when I'm not... Period. It all balances out because I can tell when I'm actually hungry now... It's so FOREIGN...0 -
