Carbs are definitely not my friend, but gosh do they taste oh so good. I was stressed this weekend and found myself turning to carbs (what a surprise-NOT). Not sure where the stress came from. Nothing on the home front and nothing with Reggie. Just stressed, like something is wrong. So TODAY is day 1 low carb. I'm not trying to go carb free, but as low as I can get by not eating processed foods, carbs, starchy veggies and fruits... so it should be pretty low. My friend @knitormiss suggested not tracking macros, but working on finding foods for LCHFMP for a few days. So here I am. I just wanted to put it out there. This is definitely hard. I didn't know of all the hidden carbs in foods. My gosh.

You can do it, Cari!
When I detox from carbs, I go very basic--eggs with ham and cheese or broccoli for breakfast, salad with chicken/hardboiled egg/cheese for lunch, and grilled steak with broccoli for dinner. For a dressing, I make a garlic vinaigrette.
The real trick is to distract yourself with plenty of activity and drink tons of water until your hunger goes away, which it usually does by day four. Good luck!

Also, if at first, you focus on just getting rid of breads and sweets, it's easier. Still eat the veg and such. Then slowly cut back there, to... But yeah, bacon, eggs, cheese, pepperoni, any meat I like slathered in butter and the like, etc. Broccoli with cheese and butter. asparagus, roasted. Greenbeans with bacon, butter, and almonds... Bunless burgers have made my life so much easier! Homemade alfredo sauce on anything.... Super dark chocolate (like 90% usually). Heavy cream in things instead of milk (like coffee or tea), fat bombs will help (simplest one is called "cream cheese clouds.' I worked up to more complicated ones, though they helped me through the first few months...and I don't really do them anymore...

And yes, there are all kinds of substitutes if you have cravings, but I find after the first bit, avoiding your cravings foods helps long term... Sour cream, cream cheese, all manner of things you've been told are horrible for you!0
