Inaccurate step counts?

I have an UP Move and love the thing to death. However, I had a bit of an issue with it yesterday. I was working with a large animal veterinarian so moved the move to it's clip and put that on my belt so it wouldn't get damaged being on my wrist. I average something like 13000 steps and have no issue hitting my goal most days at all. But for the 12 hours (~8 of which spent walking constantly) my move only logged 4000 ish steps. Does this tracker have an accuracy problem if not worn on the wrist in general, or was it just a fluke?

my understanding is that it is based on arm like movement. For example if you are pushing a shopping cart...no steps counted...
Now mind you I have heard people saying they get extra steps when they are at their desk..I never have...0 -
I normally have mine on my belt/pocket. I think it depends where you put it though - if it's on my belt or waistband I have it near my hip. However, I tend to hook it on a pocket instead. How high up was your belt as well? I guess the higher up it was the less movement it may have recorded. I haven't had any issues with it this way & I don't have the wrist strap for it.0

UP Move is designed to be worn wherever you want. If it wasn't a fluke, try resetting. (I think you just take out & replace the battery?)
If the problem continues, contact Jawbone customer service. If your tracker if defective, they'll replace it.0 -
I haven't worn it anywhere except the wrist so I can't say... Sorry I don't have anything to add. I'd guess though, based off of grocery shopping when I get zero steps since I'm pushing a cart, that it does count steps better with movement though. But this is based off the up2. Not sure about the one you have.0
