Timed workout or just let it do its thing?

Sorry...I am sure this has been asked before. I have a new Fitbit Charge HR. I am going to start using the treadmill or "walk at home" videos for days when I cant make it outside to walk. My question is....will the HR still count the steps if I am basically in one spot or should I make this a times workout ( I believe I press the side button to time this)?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

Pressing the button takes a snapshot of how you preformed, for later reference. The Charge HR works great with treadmills, just don't hold on to the side rails while walking them.
I use mine with DVDs for Zumba and other aerobic videos, works fine.
Biking or lifting weights, you will want to manually log. Just note start and stop times so the data will replace whatever the ChargeHR's recorded info. Let your Fitbit do the heavy reporting functions for you otherwise:)
