I shouldn't have a backache after bench and rows, right?

I did my 2nd workout A this morning, benching 70lbs and 60lbs rows. I was able to do 5x5 on both lifts, but during the bench press, I felt that I was straining my lower back, and now I'm a bit achey (similar to a TOM lower back ache). I finished TOM on Tuesday and am lightly spotting for the first time ever - I'm 51 and thinking the spotting may be peri-menopausal??? - so the back ache may be TOM related.
Any ideas/suggestions?

I had spotting a couple of times after lifting, saw my ob gyn, and it turned out I had an ovarian cyst and the endometrium was too thick. I had laproscopic surgery to fix those things. Probably best to run it by your ob gyn, the kind of cyst I had wasn't the usual kind, it had to be removed as although it was harmless there was a risk of it either becoming cancerous or growing to huge proportions and putting pressure on organs, etc. But if you think it could be gynae related definitely get it checked out.
although you could have strained your back a little, so it could be nothing gynae related at all. but check your form for next time if you have strained your back0 -
Women's sensitivity to pain changes over the course of the menstrual cycle--it usually increases during the third and fourth weeks. I realize it's hard to know where exactly in your cycle you are if you're (peri-)menopausal, but it could just be something like that. The back pain might not be related to the lifts.
If you did get the backache from lifting, though, which is entirely possible, it was probably the rows that did it. The next time you go to do this lift, videotape yourself from the side and check what your lower back is doing. It should be extended (arched) but not overextended, and not rounded, either.0
