Hey, Happy!
I, too, loved my carbonated drinks. My wife is missing them terribly (she's 4 weeks out from sleeve surgery). Here's an alternative I've leaned on for the last few years.
Wylers makes a great sugar-free fruit punch powdered drink, among other flavors. At Shop Rite, a supermarket in the Northeast US, a package of 6 of these is perpetually "on sale" for 2 dollars. Each purports to make a half gallon of "red juice", as we call it, but we both found the taste to be too sweet. So we mix one packet into a full gallon of water, and the juice tastes great! Sure, it's not soda, or pop, or whatever you know it as, but it is a tasty substitute.
Crystal Light, decaf iced tea and coffee, and other alternatives are available. Plus, I hear good things about a new product that's on the rise around the world: this "water" stuff has a good reputation.
If we never take another sip of soda, we'll all be okay anyway, despite what the Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and other ads want us to believe. Good luck!0
