I've been a member of this group for months (although always more of lurker than anything) and I was doing SL and making gains up until last November. I was super-active (read semi-obsessive) back then: lifting 2-3 days/week, doing yoga 2-3 times a week, Krav Maga 1-2 times a week, and running 3-4 times a week. I was feeling pretty invincible until one day it all caught up to me. I'm a potter and a few friends and I were trying to load a 400+ lb kiln into a moving truck and when we lifted it up overhead, I felt a snap in my shoulder. Turns out I had a pretty nasty tear in a tendon in my shoulder and I had to stop pretty much all of my fitness related activities and do 3 months of excruciating physical therapy. In February I started running again when an old injury flared up. Pigheaded as I am, I kept running on it, but by April, I had pain in my left foot and ankle even when I wasn't running so I went to see an orthopedic surgeon. She diagnosed me with a tendon dysfunction, put me in a brace, and restricted any physical activity involving the lower body at all. Almost 2 months later, I've finally gotten the all-clear to start back working in some light exercise again, so here I am.
So for now I'm trying to re-establish a routine, figure out a balance, avoid aggravating my shoulder and ankle, and stop this 6-month backslide I've been in. I did my first strength workout in months today. It was both frustrating and empowering. It sucks a little to have to start back so light (squats 30 lbs, bench 30 lbs, row 40 lbs) compared to where I was, but it still felt really good to get back to it. I'm hoping that being a part of this group (and living a little vicariously through watching your gains) will help me get back to where I was. I have a great group of MFP friends, many of whom I've met, trained with, and traveled with over the past couple of years, but I would so appreciate having some more of you around, so please feel free to add me.

Sounds like your body has had a rough time of it! Makes sense to ease back in to things - and no worries about where your weights are - doing everything injury free is FAR more important than heavy weights. . .and as a fellow potter, I'm sure I don't have to tell you - if the shoulders and the back aren't working, then NOTHING is working! Take care of yourself, and you'll be up to full wedging strength in no time.0
