Starting Again

Hello my name is Ashley and I'm a 29 year old wife and mother of a 5 year old daughter. I started my weight loss journey last year and lost 72lbs in 5 months.
Which was great, the first time in my adult life I was under 300lbs! But my daughter fractured her elbow playing on our kitchen chairs and couch and we spent a few days in the hospital, my eating fell off track, I wasn't tracking because I was worried about her. After we came home, i was at her beckoned call because she couldn't move around too much and was in pain from her surgery. So i was caregiver, and neglected diet and exercise... then months later after she was fully healed and able to do more for herself, I had just given up.... gained 63lbs of the weight back. I started back logging and exercising almost two weeks ago now. I started back at 355.2lbs and have managed to lose my first 9lbs. in the first week, looking forward to see where i'm at this coming weigh in.

Good morning Ashley. We all fall off the wagon. Trust me. It's not about how many times we fall off though. It's about getting up, dusting ourselves off and getting back on when the time is right for you. Congrats on the 9lb loss in your first week!! That's awesome!!0

I couldn't agree more with Cari above. Every time we come back swinging, we come back stronger.
I find that I have to focus MORE on myself, rather than abandoning myself, when doing stressful things like caring for a very sick child (or my bf who suffers disabilities and assorted complications), because what kind of example am I setting? My daughter learned for a few years that we should sacrifice all of ourselves to help others and leave nothing left until we go insane - I've changed that mindset now in the last several, to put myself first, because that is exactly what I want her to do, in a healthful balanced way. Shame for us that balance is so hard to find!
I'm thrilled your daughter is healed. Maybe it's time to incorporate her into your routine so she can see the best healthy way to focus on one's self! Kudos for coming back swinging. And welcome!0 -
Welcome. And well done on your epic loss. Yes you may have gained it back but you lost it once so you can do it again. You didnt gain all of it back and you havent given up. Those are both WINS. So you start again you lose 1lb at a time and keep doing it until all those pesky lbs are gone. You have lost 9 already which is brilliant. You got this, keep on trucking0
