50+ Crossfit ladies

So... is it just me?
I saw a 30-year-old friend of mine for the first time in a year or more. She looks awesome, nicely buffed out, about 10 lbs lighter, and of course she's doing Crossfit. Has been since January and has seen some amazing physical improvement.
I feel like I'm not progressing nearly as quickly as some of the other folks I'm seeing, either in my class or elsewhere. I'm busting my *kitten* and am seeing improvements in my times, in the weights I'm lifting, etc. What I'm NOT seeing is the big weight loss, the buffed-out look, the ability to (fairly quickly) do pull-ups and HSPUs and the other hard body-weight stuff. I've been doing Crossfit for almost two years now and I have yet to manage ONE unassisted pull-up. ONE.
People are telling me that I look strong, which is nice, but I'd rather look athletic. And I'd rather be moving less weight around so that I might someday be able to actually DO a pull-up. I weigh 40-50 lbs more than these gals do, and still will after I reach my weight goal. My days as a 120-lb girlie are 30 years back in the rear view mirror.
Older ladies, does it seem to you that the younger gals are making progress more quickly than you are? Or do I just need to suck up and deal and realize that all I can do is what my body is going to LET me do given my age? That I've had 30 more years to screw my metabolism up and it isn't going to re-set itself without a lot more months of healthy eating?
I guess I'm just whining at this point, but I'm pretty discouraged.

Nashai! I'm 45 and I've been a Crossfitter since 2010. My coach gave me a CF newsletter with the Zone for Athletes. I have it in pdf form if you email me @ibrendell@cox.net I can forward it to you. He asked me, "Brenda what are you eating?" Because I was coming to Crossfit and I was still chunky. Even in Crossfit, diet matters more than exercise for weight loss. So from personal experience, I lost pounds and inches when I followed that paper to the T. Also no alcohol is huge. As I'm older now I tend to love a cocktail and glass of wine. I had to cut that out. :flowerforyou: It might be harder now to lose weight but when I was really dedicated to eating right and portion control (which was pretty easy following the block system on that Pdf.) I saw results. I was hungry I can't lie. :-) You can do it. Let nothing stop you.0
